I have read that watching an aquarium will lower blood pressure in most people.  This is probably the reason they are seen in so many places; doctors’ waiting rooms, hospitals, anywhere where people might need something to help them relax.

As a society we have developed many ways for people to alleviate stress.  Many are things that are very easily done.  Certain fragrances seem to help, as does relaxing music.  Many books have been written about the subject and much money is made selling products that claim to help.

The easiest way, is also one of the least expensive, prayer.  Philippians 4:6-7 explains this.  “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (The Message)

Some may claim that this sounds too easy.  Praying once may not seem to help, but a continued and regular time of prayer will indeed relieve stress and lead you into a place in your life where troubles can be handled in a more positive manner.
