Style of the Week! Like 0 Twitter Natalie Hinds Follow Aug. 3, 2016, 1:40 p.m. in Life and Styles Views: 712 Like us on facebook Greetings everyone! I have decided to do a style of the week! Of course it'll be my own style and something very easy to follow along with so you guys can try it to if you would like! If you guys haven't already seen my bio, my name is Natalie and I am a 22 year old student at the University of Florida. My natural hair journey started last year in March and was a little different than most because of the fact that I have swam my whole life. I just finished up my eligibility at the University of Florida which is so sad, but in terms of natural hair living will be the best for my hair... NO more chlorine! I have had my hair in braids for about a year now just trying to protect those ends (because we all know ends are the most important part of this whole thing right?). Anyhoo, my style for the week is the ever simple top knot. This style is simple because it is only a few steps, but what is most important about this style is the setup: 1. I usually start out on freshly washed hair from the night before. I co wash with my As I Am Coconut Co wash (which I just got and LOVE) and follow up with my DIY leave in oil that I will show ya'll how I make soon! 2. After washing, I use the banding method and tie my hair into four sections for about 20-30 minutes just to ring all the excess water out! 3. I then unwrap my hair and use Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea leave-in conditioner followed by my DIY *hair crack*. After conditioning, I install bantu knots so it can dry overnight. *disclaimer*: Sometimes the knots don't dry the whole way but that's okay because we are going to blow dry the next morning. 4. So now it's the next morning, and I take the bantu knots out one by one and start to blow dry on MEDIUM-LOW heat. Keep the heat down guys, we want to just stretch the hair, not make it bone straight. 5. Once the hair is dry, make a nice part from ear to ear and gather the hair for a small ponytail at the top of your head and you're done! Make sure to fluff out the rest of your hair as you see fit. Hope you guys could follow along. Just like I mentioned in my bio, please feel free to comment and email me with ideas and tips and stuff like that! I'm learning just like you!
