It's time for the twice-a-year, month-long celebration of dining at some of the city's most expensive and classic restaurants. Yes! I'm talking about the NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2016 which began earlier this week and runs through August 19th. NYC Restaurant Week is a semiannual promotional event where 380 restaurants offer three-course prix-fixe dining deals for lunch ($29) and dinner ($42). Gratuity and beverages aren't included, but the deals are still notable at many restaurants where you can't usually dine for under three figures. Here are my top 5 picks for this year's restaurant week!

David Burke Kitchen:  David Burke eatery in the James Hotel (with garden dining) features locally sourced American fare. For the restaurant week, they are allowing diners to pick any combo of a starter, main, and dessert off his menu to create your own Restaurant Week special! Now, that's a steal considering the starter's alone typically range from $15-$21.

American Cut: Modern steakhouse from Marc Forgione serving classic fare updated with NYC twists in posh surrounds. The midtown location is participating in restaurant week this year and offers not three but a four-course menu! Their signature crackerjack sundae is on deck for dessert! ;)

Park Avenue Summer: A restaurant whose modern American menu & decor completely changes with the seasons. Restaurant week is a great time to try its summer menu including the corn gnocchi with truffles!

Tavern On The Green: It's the perfect combination of a view and some delicious food! The perfect Newyorker thing to do and restaurant week gives you that chance!

Le Cirque: This midtown restaurant's tasting menu runs $170 and more on a regular day, so restaurant week gives you the chance to try some food from the same kitchen and rejoice at the price! ;)

So, which restaurant do you plan on trying during the restaurant week?
