'When Mollie and Peter go to buy their mother a birthday present, they discover the most extraordinary thing: a chair that can fly and grant wishes! The Wishing-Chair takes them on some marvellous adventures - to a castle where they narrowly escape from a giant and rescue Chinky the pixie, to the Land of Dreams, and to a disappearing island!'

This book was great.

It is a fun story of a brother and sister who go to a second-hand shop to buy a gift for their mum. Since the siblings only have a small amount of money they decide to explore the shop for the perfect gift.

As soon as you enter the store you know that this is a magical shop. The children end up sitting on a chair that grows wings and takes them away on the first of many magical adventures.

Enid Blyton is one of the greatest children's authors. She has a way with fantasy that sparks the imagination of the reader, regardless of their age. I love reading these books as an adult, they feel just as special as they did when I was a child.
This book is almost a collection of short stories that are held together by a common plot, that of the wishing chair. I loved this aspect of this book, the stories can be read in order or you can just pick a chapter to read, and each chapter is the perfect length. This makes it the perfect book for bedtime reading.

I have so many wonderful memories of the Wishing Chair series and many of Enid Blyton's other books. I love the fantasy world of the Wishing Chair story, where pixie's, fairies, gnomes and all kinds of little magical creatures are around every corner. This mix of the fantastical and the grounded makes this story feel truly magical.

The Adventures of the Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton is a delightful read that will entertain both children and their parents.
