Now that the college basketball season is officially underway, it seems like a fantastic time to highlight some of the nation's best teams.

i

Alabama - Alabama Crimson Tide

Avery Johnson has been doing an admirable job as the coach of the Crimson Tide. Alabama's two losses this season have come against two very talented teams, Dayton and Valparaiso. Alabama could be a team to watch in the SEC.

Alaska - Alaska Anchorage Seawolves

Alaska isn't exactly known for its basketball. However, the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves have been competitive so far this year. Despite being 1-2 the Seawolves have lost their two games by a combined 12 points.

Arizona - Arizona Wildcats

As of now, the Wildcats are the 16th ranked team in the nation, with only one loss. Coach Sean Miller has turned Tucson, Arizona into a basketball powerhouse with loads of potential. Look for Arizona to make a postseason run in March.

i

Arkansas - Arkansas Razorbacks

Outside of their one competitive game this season, the Razorbacks haven't been tested. As of now, the main reason Arkansas makes this list is because of the lack of quality Division 1 programs in the state.

California - UCLA Bruins

Along with Cal, Oregon, and Arizona, UCLA has a great chance to finish at the top of the Pac-12 conference. Led by stud freshman Lonzo Ball, UCLA is as talented as ever.

Colorado - Colorado Buffaloes

Colorado has been a relatively consistent threat in the Pac-12 over the last few years and there is no reason for that to change this year. The Buffs are off to a good start, at five wins and one loss.

Connecticut - Connecticut Huskies

The University of Connecticut's basketball team has been off to a horrendous 2-4 beginning to their season. Thankfully for them, there aren't many challengers for the "top college basketball" spot in Connecticut.

i

Delaware - Delaware Blue Hens

Delaware has started the season 4-3 and are currently right in the middle of the Colonial Athletic Association standings.

Florida - Florida State Seminoles

Florida has been the most difficult state to choose so far, due to the competitiveness of both the University of Florida and Florida State. The Seminoles gets the edge here because of the more notable talent.

i

Georgia - Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia hasn't had the strongest early season start, but they managed to stay competitive in a game against one of the best teams in the county, Kansas. The Bulldogs could possibly contend in the SEC.

i

Hawai'i - Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors

Hawai'i earned this merit solely because they are the only Division 1 school in the state. However, the Rainbow Warriors have managed a positive 4-3 start to the season.

i-1

Idaho - Boise State Broncs

Boise St. has endured somewhat of a rough start to the 2016-17 season, starting just 3-3. There is hope for the Broncos as they have still looked extremely capable in their opening six games.

i

Illinois - Northwestern Wildcats

Northwestern has begun their season in terrific fashion, with wins over Texas and Notre Dame and just a solitary two point loss to Butler.

i

Indiana - Indiana Hoosiers

Despite dropping an early season game to IPFW, the Hoosiers look to be one of the most talented teams in all of college basketball. Led by star big man Thomas Bryant and wing James Blackmon Jr., Indiana is the favorite to win the Big 10 conference.
