Today, I broke a mirror by smashing it into the ground.

Accidentally or intentionally,

no one will ever know.

They will tell themselves

it was an accident.

As it's plummeting to the floor,

reaching its predictable, broken fate,

I picture my whole life

in succeeding images.

I see love and pain holding hands,

I see day and night side by side.

When the mirror smashes

into razor blades,

I ignore its inevitable invitation

and I cry for all the things

that mirror never got to see.
