The Future Buddha

According to Buddhist Tradition, many Buddha(s) were born at different period of time  to enlighten and guide the mankind. The last Buddha was Gautama. The future Buddha, who is yet to be born is known as Maitreya.

The photograph is the Lord Maitreya's statue installed in Thikse Monastery,Ladakh,India.

The concept of future Buddha was also adapted by Theosophists,a philosophy based on mystical and occult practices . Theosophists were quite active in the early 19th century in India and many parts of the Europe,Australia and United States.

In the early 19th Century,Theosophists identified a young boy Jiddu Krishnamurti who would be future Buddha and started preparing themselves for his ascension. However, over the years, Jiddu Krishnamurti rejected the idea of ascension or worship and  disbanded the group,dis-associated himself from the order. He spoke

Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect

These words has a deeper meaning. The God or Enlightenment cannot be encapsulated by any method of worship neither anybody can claim the exclusiveness is an significant message especially in this time period where we are often surrounded by divisive preachings and sermons.
