As we all know injuries are part of the game and part of fantasy football as well. I had one of the stranger weeks though when it comes to injuries. Now I'm in a 20 team league; so you can imagine what the waiver wire looks like in that league. Sadly after this week I'm going to have to use the waiver wire and try to find some help somewhere.

When my draft was over I was pretty happy with the starting backfield. I ended up with Jonathan Stewart of the Carolina Panthers and Danny Woodhead of the San Diego Chargers. My league isn't a full point per reception league; we get 0.75 points per reception; so it's close. With running backs devalued as they are in fantasy football I thought I was all set for the season.

Stewart headed to the locker room after the Panthers 3rd drive of the 1st quarter in Carolina's Week 2 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Stewart was battling an ankle injury coming into Week 2 as it was and now you can add a hamstring injury to that list. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera announced today that Stewart is likely to miss 1or 2 weeks with the hamstring injury. It appears the Panthers will go with Fozzy Whitaker as the main running back as he racked up 100 yard game against the 49ers after Stewart left. Cameron Artis-Payne may get some carries as well, but he's been inactive for the first 2 weeks of the season.

While it looks like Stewart will return to my fantasy team and the Panthers in a week or two Woodhead is done for the season. Woodhead tore his ACL when he got his right leg got caught beneath him while taking a hit from Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith early in the first half. Woodhead was carted off the field and unable return to the game. This is the second time Woodhead’s season was cut short early in the past three years after he missed most of the 2014 season with broken fibula.

Now I was able to find Devontae Booker of the Denver Broncos on my waiver wire; so I claimed him. Sadly Whitaker is already on a team in my league. Now I did draft James Starks of the Green Bay Packers as my 3rd running back; bye week type of fill in guy. I'm hoping that Booker and Starks can hold down my running back position until Stewart is healthy. I'm off to an 0-2 start; so I'm already in a hole to begin with. Wish me luck.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope your fantasy football season is off to a good start.
