When they go low, we go high - Michelle Obama

This wasn't the post I had planned for today but after listening to this speech last night, I had to write this.

AN OUTSTANDING WOMAN!!!!!......This is one phrase that keeps me always on my toes. You do realize that being an outstanding woman in the crowd makes you stand out, yea? If there is one thing that is downright appealing to the eyes, it is the confidence level of a woman. When I see women of grace; women of valor kick out fear and come out to truly be themselves, I am so proud and feel deeply inspired.

If you follow my story, you would have read over and over again of how timid and lily-livered I used to be but not anymore. Instead, I drew the line - NEVER AGAIN WOULD I SETTLE FOR LESS THAN  I REALLY AM and this has really been working fine for me. My name should be ranked among the top most influential women in the world. It's not possible, you think? It sure is, my darling because I am on the right track. I have set the pace. Though a gradual process, I sure would get there.

The more confident and appreciative of who you are, the less hold depression has over you.

I have found myself and discovered my purpose. I am on the way to the top and nobody is going to stop me. I am the daughter of the King who rules the cosmos. I have no limitations and no barrier is going to hold me down. So, are you with me on this mission to live your life to the fullest and in all happiness? Are you ready to tear down the walls of your comfort zone and start living without fear?

Now, I am not one for politics but boy, do I just love Michelle Obama. This is one woman that inspires me to be a bigger, better woman than I am today. Forget her position as the First Lady of the United States; Forget the luxuries she gets to enjoy and look at the real woman that she really is. Her poise, charisma, personality very much dignified with humility, simplicity, class and elegance speaks much more than words can say.

True heroism and great accomplishments are not about how much we have but how much we give of ourselves to help others.

We all say we want a better world. We want change but we fail to realize that we are the change we need to have a better world.

Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Listening to her speech at the DNC 2016, gave me bumps. The passion with which she spoke, her originality, her composure......Michelle Obama is just awesome. I mean how cool is she really? Watching her, I could only have bigger dreams for myself and aspire for more because it is people like her that make me realize that there is no limitation to how big, great or important a person can be.

If you are an ardent reader of my articles, you would observe the much emphasis I lay on true living and not just existing. This is because that is the aim of my blog - to add quality value and great happiness to your life.

I have tasted what it is like to just exist and not have a purpose and compared to how greatly I live now, I can very well say with all confidence that existing and not actually living is no life at all.

There is so much we can actually be if only we put our hearts to it. Today, I refuse to be put down by fear, worries, anxieties or any form of limitations. I know who I am and I know I can go through any door and talk to any one because I am confident. Gone are those days when I have the Heebie-jeebies and can't form a coherent sentence due to fear. Oh no! Confidence truly transforms you.

I am fearless. I am bold. I am beautiful. I am a woman of grace. I am a woman of valor. Say this much about yourself everyday with faith and see how you would transform for the very best. You are so much more than you know. Surround yourself with people with such positive vibes that make you believe anything and everything is possible.

I watch Michelle Obama and am just wowed. Make no mistake about this.....this isn't a post about her but it is a post on how much women like her inspire me to be bigger and greater than I already am. Her simplicity makes me understand all the more, that wealth is not about money but about who and what you have inside of you. It's not about adorning yourself with gold from head to toe but about the happy and beautiful aura you radiate around you.

This is not something that can be bought or influenced. It has to be a part of you for you to give it out. I have never believed for a day that women are second-class citizens or that they take the back row seat behind men. I firmly believe that women were created to work side-by-side with man and truly if you want a great nation and a beautiful world, educate the girl-child.

There is so much about a woman that the world cannot do without. It is just innate in her being. Her softness, her supple self, her gentle nature, her understanding, her emotions, her motherly nature, her intuitive spirit, her strength, her love, her all-encompassing being.......I could go on forever.

What does it take for women to rise to become who they were born to be and accomplish the purpose of their existence? It is not enough to settle for a life of mediocrity. It is not enough to think that you are ordinary and there is nothing special about you. Oh no, sweetheart, you are wrong.

There is everything special about you and there is nothing ordinary about you. It only takes for you to know this and to acknowledge it.

You want to be respected, then live a life worthy of respect.

Indecent dressing, exposing your bodies, trying to become who you are not just because you want to be elevated in the social hierarchy doesn't tell good about you. There is power in modesty and decency. Originality is key. Authenticity is key. Who are you really and what do you want out of life?

Over and over again, I see women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Joke Silva, Reese Witherspoon (I really love her movies and her originality), Mo Abudu, Omawumi Megbele and coming closer home, my Mum, my loads of sisters, Mrs Oide Christie Idemudia, Mrs Christie Okolo.....to mention but a few.....these great women get me motivated to be far better than I am today. What thrills me in anyone particularly women is their originality.

Stop trying to be a "wannabe" and just be yourself already. Your social status in no way defines the core of your identity.

Sweetie, don't be as foolish as I was to confuse low self-esteem as being modest. You are a great chic, a boss lady, so live as such. You are beautiful. You are amazing. Your wealth and status is not who you are. So do not feel without Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, Prada bags or Hermes belt, then you are a nobody. All these do not define who you really are.It is imperative you stay in touch with your inner self so you don’t lose the essence of who you truly are.

The real question is Who are you without the magic glass slipper?

What is your impact in the world today? Do you sit back hiding in your shadow shouting for change? Do you think because you occupy no great position or any position at all, your voice won’t be heard?

Every action we carry out – our words and deeds in whatever corner of the world we are in has an influence in the lives of others.

[ctt template="8" link="9bf6u" via="yes" ]We build the world and create it the way we want because we are what we make of the world. We are the world. khuanas_corner[/ctt]

Every action we take, no matter how minute, has an influence in the life of someone out there – the way we live, dress, talk etc. People look up to us, whether we like it or not and our impacts and influence goes a long way in affecting their lives.

Life is a chain reaction and like Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world today".

You are the only you there is and ever will be. So go out there and make a name for yourself. Don’t let your existence go unnoticed. In your own way, contribute to that positive change you want to see in the world.

What is your passion? What is that thing that makes you come alive and fill you with so much joy? Go do it. Do you love music? Are you a writer? Do you love taking pictures? Create a niche for yourself in the world today and let your light shine.

Trust me, you only truly begin to make a real difference in the world when your life begins to positively impact on others.

And it begins with joy inside of you. Happiness in your heart radiates smiles on your face and brightens your mood. This rubs off positively on those around you.

It makes you friendly, easily approachable and even more beautiful thereby confirming the saying, “A smile is the most important expression you can wear”. A smile from you can make someone’s day, restore someone’s lost hope and may be a guiding light in someone’s path.

Go out there and live your life. Be courageous and take that bold step from behind your shadows. You are exquisite and a shining star. You have so much to offer. Silence those incessant voices in your head saying you are no good. That is a big fat lie.

You are a blessing and your existence is not a mistake. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” - Eleanor Roosevelt. Start living and prove these words to be true: “I cheated on my fears, broke up with my doubts, got engaged to my faith and now, I’m marrying my dreams” – Unknown.
