I have created this list since January the beginning of this year of the things I wanted to get for myself. Though few of the items on the list were not really necessary for me to have or get, but then I thought if I get extra cash to splurge this year, then I will get them. Anyway, somewhere in the beginning of June I went to the mall to get regular essential things for myself. Now, after listening to a few money teaching gurus out there, you have to understand buying only essentials items when doing shopping is the good routine you can establish for yourself especially when you are living on the budget. So, as I was walking on my way out of the mall, in front of me, there it was, one of the items on my list that I wanted to splurge on myself this year. Anxiously, I entered the store, and asked the lady who worked there, how much it was, but I have to say according to my wallet it was very expensive. Let’s just say the price I had on my list must have been for a generic brand. I just couldn’t justify spending that much money. So, I left and decided to let it go, and just go home. And I never even let it bothered me, I just let it go and believed perhaps next year I will be able to get it. Now, fast forward, in the month of August, just a week ago, this long time friend of mine called me. I mean, the last time we talked was perhaps one year ago, but I was so glad to hearing from her, therefore we agreed to meet. The next day she came home, and we talked and I find out not only she has a corporate job, but also she has her own store selling various products. So, I congratulated her, and to be honest I am very proud of her to have made such major steps to creating a side business for herself. Now, when she came, she had this medium bag with her, so after we finished chitchatting and catching up, she opened the bag, and took one item and said “This is your gift, and the rest are few of the products I am selling that I thought you would like to buy.” Let’s just say I couldn’t believe what I saw as she was giving me this gift. Talking about God, and how amazing He is, I was filled with so much joy. It was the same thing I saw the other day at the mall, the item that was on my list, and I just got it as a gift.

That is one of my own personal experiences and examples of the power of letting go, and letting God. Some call it “The Law of Detachment,” some use it as a phrase, “Where there is a will, there is a way,” but I like to say, “Let Go, and let GOD.”

You see most us we like to forcing things to go exactly as we want, our way or no way. But when we do that we seldom get the things we want. Sometimes the way we have planned is not the best way that God has in mind.

The famous Zig Ziglar said, “When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.” He also said, “It’s not where you start or even what happens to you along the way that’s important. What is important is that you persevere and never give up on yourself.” Also it can be never give up on your dreams, goals, values, and etc.

The famous Deepak Chopra for instance, in his book “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success,” in the Sixth Spiritual Law of Success which is called “The Law of Detachment,” he mentioned that the way to acquire anything in the Universe is to relinquish our attachment to it. Meaning that when things don’t seem to go our way, that’s when we need to let go of our idea of how things should be. And when we do that we need to make sure our intention is not to giving up on the goal or our desire, but to give up our attachment to the outcome.

For example; you have a mentor you must meet this coming weekend who lives five hours away from where you live. Your plan is to take a plane, and fly on Friday night so that you would have enough time to rest to meet this mentor on Saturday afternoon. So, on Friday in the afternoon you get an email and a text messaging that your flight is cancelled until Saturday afternoon because of the critical weather conditions or technical reasons. Since you know this meeting is one opportunity that you may not have again anytime soon, you decide you are going to drive all the way there by yourself. You come home after work that evening preparing for the trip, you then realize your car is broken, there is no way you can be able to have it fixed for you to be able to use it tomorrow morning. Sitting down on the couch grouchily wondering what you are going to do, because there is no way you are going to cancel this meeting. And then you decide to let go, and take a shower. But while you were in the shower, you realize you can get there on time after all, if you will take a train route. And so you take a train, amazingly and surprisingly you end up sitting next to this person you really admire, and never thought in your life time you will be able to meet in person. You just couldn’t imagine that while on your way to meet your first mentor, you meet this great another mentor and all because you took the train route. So, as you make a connection with this second mentor, he or she happened to like your idea and promised to help you, and your trip was already successful. But you decide not to go back; you are going to meet the first mentor regardless. Luckily you get there on time, but unfortunately after meeting up with the first mentor, you realize the second mentor proposal was the best deal to go for after all. And so you shake hands anyway and thank the first mentor for his time, and thank God for all things had happened. Then you realize taking the train was the best direction to your destination or to achieving your ultimate goal.

The famous Napoleon Hill said, “If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan; if this new plan fails to work, replace it in turn with still another, and so on, until you find a plan which does work. Right here is the point at which the majority of men meet with failure, because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.”

When you are pursuing your goals and dreams, or just living your life, it’s obvious that you are going to face obstacles here and there. Some are meant for your good and promotion, some are meant for your destruction, but regardless of these obstacles intentions, when they come and we don’t know what to do to solve and overcome them, it’s not the time for us to give up on our goals, dreams, ourselves, and our lives. Instead of forcing things to always abide in our ways, we can let go and let God help us. If we believe God always wants the best for us, if we will be in harmony with the fact and notion that God intentions are always good, then somehow God will bring the best solutions to solve our problems, to accomplish our goals, to live our dreams, and so on. Our job is to continue believing there is a better way after all, and continue to search, study, and prepare for them so that when opportunities come, we are ready to act toward them.
