No, I'm not Dorothy but I know what if feels like to not be in Kansas anymore.  I’ve finally made it home and it feels really great to sleep in my own bed. I don’t know about you, but after 4 days, I want to go home. Whether I’m on a beach or visiting family, nothing feels like the comfort of home. My plan has always been to make my home a place of refuge and peace. I confess, my  home décor changes with the seasons, it makes it more peaceful for me.  Also, I have to have candles it brings any comforting smell you can think of to life, brownie batter aroma without the calories. Home the place I can laugh, cry, and rewind.

On Pinterest, there was a pin “Home is where you can look ugly.”  My opinion is home should be your sanctuary. The one place in the world, you should be able to rely on to find peace from the constant noise.

I know what it’s like to not find home my home my sanctuary. My friends would tell me how beautiful my ex and I home was, but it only looked pretty. I felt more like a guest in my own home and never felt truly comfortable. He traveled a lot which helped but I dreaded the weekends. The garage door opening and alarm signaling his arrival was torture. I wanted to be comfortable and as the pin said my version of ugly.

I moved out a year and a half prior to my divorce being finalized. My friends thought I was nuts because, I didn’t pay any housing expenses. They thought, stay and save, but you can’t put a price on peace!

You don’t have to live in a big house, to make your home your place of peace.  Hey, you might just have a corner of a studio you share with 3 roommates. That corner is yours, make it your sanctuary. I challenge you to make a special place, where you can relax and regroup from the pressures of life. There truly is no place like home.
