For the past two weeks my life has basically consisted of me running around like a headless chicken trying to sort out everything for the sidepiece’s birthday this week. So I feel like I need to take a step back and just stop. Relax. Breathe.

That’s better.

Summer (what little we’ve seen of it!) is speeding by and I feel like I’ve barely had time to appreciate it.

Is it just me or is it near enough impossible to be in a bad mood when the sun is shining?

Summer makes everyone happy – relaxed, healthier. Content.

I like summer social shindings – pub garden shindings, park shindings, BBQ shindings… basically any kind of shinding involving Pimms or a really good cider. There really isn’t much better than Pimms, a Passion fruit or Elderflower cider, give me either and I’ll be happy as Larry.

I like that the sunlight creeps through the curtains in the mornings, the smell of warm air – a mix of freshly cut grass and BBQs. The smell of summer.

I like that the evenings stay light until almost bedtime and you feel a sense of calm as you crawl under the covers.

Saying that – there is nothing better than a summer storm. Laying in bed with the windows wide open, listening to the rain. Absolute bliss.

That’s my favourite one.

What are your favourite things about summer?
