It might seem like welding is a simple task that any welding company can assist you with, but unfortunately not all welding services are created equal. This is one industry where quality is vital, and the best service for the job you have will depend on the exact nature of the job in question and, of course, the experience of the welding company you use.

Hiring the correct welding services for your project means that you are ensuring that you get the best results and are paying accordingly. Here we will look at some of the things that you should consider when it comes to working out which welding service is the right one for you.

1.What service do you need?

Before you begin your search for a welding company, consider what exactly you are looking for. Some welding companies will specialise in certain areas and may be more appropriate for your project than others. One thing that you should certainly consider is just how big the job you have in mind is, if it is a larger scale project or you are ordering something in bulk it is important to ensure that the company you hire has the capacity to take on such a workload. If your project is smaller and more unique then a smaller company that specialises in custom work may be more appropriate. If you have deadlines, then it is vital to check if the company you choose can stick to these.

2.Reputation

Once you have made a short list of a few companies who appear to be suitable to carry out the work needed, check out any reviews that they might have for previous work. Ask if they have any references from previous customers – a good company will be happy to show you these. One or two less than favourable reviews are to be expected but if there are more bad ones than good ones then you should probably steer clear. Almost all companies have an online presence, so if the one you are looking at doesn’t, ask yourself why not - this might be cause for alarm bells. Visit the company in person if you can. This will really give you a feel for what type of company they are and how they operate.

3.Are they licensed?

Don’t forget to check if the company that you are looking at are licensed. Even if they do good work you can’t legally hire them if they are not licensed. It is also a good idea to look at the qualifications that the company hold as well.

4.Customer service

Whilst you are in the process of considering which welding company to use, you are likely to have some discussions with them. It can be a good idea to consider the kind of customer service you come in to contact with. Good customer service is very often the sign of a business that does good work and is trustworthy. Are they a company that is open about their prices, their safety policies and their past work? If you are concerned that they might be hiding something, then it may be an idea to walk away.

5.Price

Whilst you will almost certainly be looking for quality in the work that you want from any welding company, the price will probably play an important factor in your decision as well. The right company is one who can offer you the quality you are looking for at a price you are able to afford.

Remember that you get what you pay for, however. It isn’t necessarily a good idea to go for the lowest quote you get, especially if it is much lower than others, as the quality may not be what you are looking for.
