It was a day like any other day.

Ralph had just gotten back from the Vietnam War. The year is 1971.

Today, Ralph decides to spend some time with his wife. But after showering, he had a strong headache come on Sophia, his wife, comes back from the grocery, holding bags full of food stuffs.

Ralph squints at her, but he was too tired to speak. His wife notices this and quickly comes to his aid.

"Put your head on my lap. I'll give you a massage" Sophia said as Ralph does what she says

"Sophia, I've got a headache"

Silent, she caught a reflection of herself in the mirror. Her belly was swelling, she was seven months pregnant. She had been married to Ralph for less than a year. Boy was she glad Raffy came back from the war with complete body parts!

Ralph must have noticed that she was looking at her stomach, so he says, "How's the baby?" as he glides a hand over the big bump

"It's kicking. Can you feel it?" she moves his hand over to the area where the baby is kicking.

Ralph did not speak. He closed his eyes.

It was 6 pm.

Sophia just lay there, with Raffy's head in her lap, massaging his scalp, pushing away stray hairs that went on his face.

By 9:30 pm, Raffy was dead. It was his kidney.
