hey guys,

so summer is almost over which means school is literally just around the corner. back to schedules, long nights, papers and tests. really not ready for this life to start again. I was really just getting into the swing of summer and then I wake up and then BAM! school time. but as usual, at the beginning of every semester, I have a plan for how I want the year to go and how I want to be that year. I start out strong all the time; on time, prepared, well rested and then somewhere towards midterms I just give up. give up on punctuality and studying and early wake-up times and I just turn into this slow rolling sack of confusion, frustration, and coffee. I know it's bad.

but not this year. no. this year I am going to try as hard as possible to keep on my routine and keep this healthy stride going. I have started putting things in order so that I can continue on this stride. so here's the plan.

  • wake up
  • do a devotional or meditate or morning pages
  • work out
  • class or work
  • rest
  • study or blog or do whatever hobby I have
  • chill with friends or by myself
  • sleep.

that's not all but that is basically the skeletal framework of how I want my routine to be set up. thus doesn't only apply to students. it applies to anyone who doesn't want to end up in a rut  in their life or situation. the basic rules to apply are;

  • have a stable routine
  • don't be too strict with it switch it up to keep it interesting
  • don't be a loner. spend time with your friends and family
  • plan plan plan.

Another thing that will help is to  have projects that you are working on throughout the year. like I am starting to work on calligraphy and if you practice it maybe every week then you have something that you can say that you achieved over the course of the year. also, exercise. don't be a couch potato. move, be active, go for a run or a walk or just dance. we spend so much of our time sitting that we need to move around to let our muscles move and actually do their job. maybe work on your vocabulary or your writing. if you don't like to read then just think about how much smarter our world would be if people just read a book every now and again. if the stupidity of the world doesn't motivate you to be better, then I don't know what will.

the basic gist of this is to be active and mobile and be prepared. as much as we may not like the routine of school or work, we need stability in our lives in order to fully indulge in the things that we love. just don't stay idle. use this year to better yourself. have great ideas, meet new people, discover new things. just LIVE. don't let the world and your life pass you by. and remember "an idle mind is the devils workshop"
