Week 11 in the NFL started off Thursday night with the Carolina Panthers getting a 23-20 win over the New Orleans Saints. Let's take a look and see how my Start/Sit choices from yesterday did.

Cam Newton threw for just 192 yards and a touchdown. Newton normally outs up good fantasy numbers on the ground, but last night had 5 carries for just 7 yards. Newton was also sacked 2 times in the game. I had Newton as a START as I'm sure most fantasy owners did, but his 10.79 fantasy points aren't going to be a lot of help to you this week.

Drew Brees did a little better than Newton putting up 13.95 fantasy points. Brees threw for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brees also ran 2 times, but gained 0 yards. Brees threw 2 interceptions was sacked 3 times and lost a fumble. Brees is another must START for fantasy owners, but last night you would've been better off with another quarterback.

Running Back:

Jonathan Stewart did play; carrying the football 18 times for just 31 yards, but he did score a touchdown. Stewart was targeted 4 times in the passing game, but managed just 1 receptions for 8 yards. Stewart was a SIT for me and his 15.15 fantasy points last night outs him in the middle of the road. I think there will be better running back plays this week.

I had Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower as player to SIT because I just can't figure out which guy the Saints will use more in a certain game. Last night Hightower would've been a good fantasy play as he carried the football 12 times for 69 yards and also caught 8 passes for 57 yards. Hightower ended up with 21.60 fantasy points in the game and would've been a good start. Ingram on the other hand belonged on the bench. Ingram carried the football 7 times for 28 yards and added 3 receptions for 47 yards. Ingram put up 11.50 fantasy points last night.

Wide Receiver:

I really liked Kelvin Benjamin going into last nights game and had him as a START. I missed on that pick as Benjamin was targeted just 4 times. He did catch 3 of those passes for 56 yards, but his 7.85 fantasy points aren't what you want out of a teams #1 receiver.

Ted Ginn Jr. had a solid night and in a deeper league may have some value. Ginn Jr. was targeted 4 times catching 3 of those passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Ginn Jr. also had 1 rushing attempt for 13 yards and added 10 return yards as well. Ginn Jr. scored 14.60 fantasy points last night. I had Ginn Jr. as a SIT and depending on your league size will decide what Gin Jr. is for the week.

Devin Funchess hasn't really factored into the Panthers offense much this season. Funchess was targeted 7 times, but managed just 2 catches for 32 yards. I had Funchess as a SIT and I hope you had another option at wide receiver as his 4.70 fantasy points won't be a lot of help this week.

Brandin Cooks was another player I liked last night and had him as a START, bit I was way off on him. Cooks was targeted 8 times and did catch 7 of those targets, but managed just 42 yards. Cooks did have 2 rushing attempts for 7 yards last night. Cooks ended up with 10.65 fantasy points.

Michael Thomas has been a solid fantasy play most of this season and I thought he'd be a good START last night. I missed on this one as well. Thomas was targeted 5 times and caught all 5 of those passes for 68 yards. Thomas put up 10.55 fantasy points last night.

Willie Snead has been a sneaky fantasy play this season and I liked him as a START last night. Nope, I missed on Snead as well. Snead was targeted 5 times managing 4 catches for 33 yards. Snead had just 6.30 fantasy points last night.

Tight End:

Greg Olsen is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and is pretty much a must START every week. Last night Olsen was targeted 7 times catching 4 of those passes for 33 yards. Not a good night at all for Olsen as he scored just 6.30 fantasy points last night.

Maybe I overestimated Colby Fleener when the Saints signed him. I expected him to put up more Jimmy Graham like numbers in this offense, but he hasn't. This led me to make Fleener a SIT yesterday. Flleener was targeted 5 times and caught only 3 passes for a total of 17 yards, but luckily one of those catches was for a touchdown. Fleener scored 9.95 fantasy points last night. It's a solid number, but I think there will be better tight ends this week.

Defense/Special Teams:

Carolina's Defense/Special Teams scored 14.39 fantasy points last night and I had them as a SIT. The Panthers had 3 sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. I'd never start a Defense/Special Teams unit against the Saints, but last night you could've and gotten away with it.

The New Orleans Defense/Special Teams scored 5.10 fantasy points last night; which believe it or not is good for them. I had them as a SIT last night which is pretty much where they are every week unless some is on a bye. I hope you had another option here.

What a terrible week for me and I can't apologize enough for it. I was expecting a high scoring big time offensive game and none of that happened. I had my worst week of the season as I managed to get 6 picks right and missed on 9 other ones. As always thanks for taking the time to read this article and I hope the rest of Week 11 goes better for not only me, but you.
