This weekend Joe and I had a lovely little tour of the labour ward at the hospital where we'll be having Baby Lee. It had been mentioned previously by the midwives, but it wasn't until a friend of mine strongly recommended we attend one that I actually booked us on, and boy am I glad I did!

I knew it would help put my mind to rest knowing where I'd be going on the day, but I learnt so much more than just knowing which door we go through - (even though this took us about ten minutes to figure out) - Like knowing to ring ahead to let them know we're on our way so they can prepare a room, and also specifying we want a room with a birthing pool. I would have turned up willy-nilly on the day and expected it to all be done and I could just swan in and have a baby! Not sure if that's complete naivety or lack of common knowledge?!

It was lovely to see all the rooms and wards, it's really relaxed me and I feel so positive about everything. In all fairness it may have been a 'quiet day' on the labour and post labour wards as there didn't seem to be much going on, I only saw one lady and baby. However it wasn't at all how I imagined, I'm pleasantly surprised!

It's absolutely crazy to think we'll actually be there at some point in the next 8 weeks bringing our little person into the world!! I still can't quite get my head around it!

To any other expectant mummies or daddies, if you're able to book onto a tour of your hospitals labour ward I highly recommend you do. Nothing beats peace of mind on such an important day!
