Travel Eats

In this series I will be reviewing different eats and eateries I have come across during my travels.

Smoke's Poutinerie (Niagara Falls, ON)

A while back ago I traveled to Niagara Falls, Ontario and instantly I knew I wanted to try some local poutine and have it compared to the stuff back in Michigan. I checked up Yelp reviews and the place that got the best reviews in the area was Smoke's Poutinerie! To be honest, I'm not even sure if "poutinerie" is even a real word lol but I'll roll with it.

Smoke's Poutinerie was fairly close to the Falls itself, just a short drive away actually. The parking in the area of Smoke's Poutinerie was kind of cramped, although there is some parking in the back which I swear looks like a parking place for the apartment.

The place itself was a bit cramped inside. I went with a family and there were six of us all together and we barely fit inside. This place could definitely fit a larger group (probably up to eight) on a night that is not so busy. But other than that, this place is best suited for couples and families of four.

What struck me about Smoke's Poutinerie was the menu, it was a bit confusing to me since I didn't really get it. I read the menu online and I was like "oh they have cheeseburgers and Philly Cheese Steaks too". But when I got inside I actually realized that those were not the actual sandwiches but different poutine variations.

I ended up sticking with the traditional gravy and cheese curd poutine fries. Overall, it was absolutely amazing, easily the best poutine fries I ever had. When compared to the poutine fries back in MI I feel like we did a good job at replicating authentic Canadian poutine fries. Also, another cool thing about Smoke's Poutinerie is that their sizes are huge. The large easily fed six people and they even have a bigger size than that if I remember!

If your in Canada, the Niagara Falls area to be more specific, you must try out the poutine fries in Smoke's Poutinerie!
