Autumn came quickly and with heavy rain. From Poland we took a bus south and hitchhiked further on with Rome as the destination, meeting wonderful people on the way. We had an unexpected break in a hot spring hotel with fellow travelers and creative masterminds Rosie and Faris, who picked us up. It was inspiring to meet another couple living on the road. They seemed to have found a life fitting perfectly for them, using their creativity to color the days, all over the world. In a way, that’s also what we are searching for.

The Value of Leaves

Rome was another luxurious break from the tent life, living for a week in a flat with William’s dad and his wife, who helped us to explore the old city. Good times enjoying the comfort of a warm bed at night and the brilliant Italian food culture. Mamma Mia!

Harvest time

The next chapter began with meeting artist Lucy, Marcus and little Lola, who we stayed with through all of autumn, working on different projects, learning about many practical things in the everyday life of a self supporting family. We helped with the vegetable garden, olive and chestnut picking and creating an orchard. It really makes you appreciate something when you have been part of the whole process. In the end we stayed for two whole months, living closely together, getting to know each other more and learning from each other many valuable lessons and new angles. They are doing a lot of the things we dream of, so it was great to face the reality of your dream, and accept that compromises must be a part of it. We are still very young and inexperienced but we are open and trying our best. Until now we have been very lucky and receiving many wonderful gifts and help on our way. I hope it have not spoiled us, but that it makes us able to give even more back over time.

“Words do not express thoughts very well; every thing immediately becomes a little different, a little distorted, a little foolish. And yet it also pleases me and seems right that what is of value and wisdom of one man seems nonsense to another.”

– Siddhartha Gautama

We are still on the road.
