"We're just trying to get a handle on everything and make sure what goes out reflects the priorities of the new administration," announced, Doug Ericksen, the communications director for Trump’s transition team at the EPA just following the government mandated media blackout on the Environmental Protection Agency.

Just as Trump signed the executive order that supports the Keystone and Dakota access pipelines, he also put a gag on the Environmental Protection Agency. But the government mandate of the medial blackout, and the fact that it was not immediately repealed, demonstrates Trump’s intent to censor not only the press, but the flow of information. Ericksen made clear that any information that does not agree with Trump’s agenda, not matter now scientifically valid, will be suppressed.  This is unacceptable, but prevalent in what we have come to know as “oppressive” countries around the world. Imagine, six months from now, searching for information on global warming and seeing an “access denied” because the content of a website disagrees with the twisted morals of the Trump administration- because that is where we are headed.

The media blackout comes on the heels of Trump’s executive orders to push through the Keystone and Dakota Access Pipelines, both of which pose a significant environmental threat. It doesn't take a genius to see that Trump, who has invested in the pipelines is trying to pad his own pockets and the pockets of his supporters.
