On Friday, September 23, 2016, the Urbanworld Film Festival welcomed guests and the cast of the upcoming HBO show called Insecure. Some of the cast who on the red carpet were:  Yvonne Orji who plays Molly and Jay Ellis who plays Molly along with the star of the show Issa Rae.  Also, in attendance was director Melina Matsoukas and Executive Producer/Showrunner, Prentice Penny.

The show Insecure is an HBO original series created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore.  The show is partially based on Rae's web series Awkward Black Girl. The series is slated to debut on October 9, 2016.

The eight-episode and first season explores the black female experience in very authentic way. Issa, like many of us, tries to figure out who she is and actually what she wants in life, and how to take control of it.

Along with Issa is her friend best friend Molly and here long term boyfriend, Lawrence.  Meanwhile, Molly is a successful corporate attorney who appears to have it all but struggles inside as she looks for external ways to fix her life.

The show successfully follows the BFFs and their entertaining lives. The series deals with the adventures the two deal with when dating.  It also includes a variety of hip music from indie and well-known artists, as well as touches on social and racial issues that relate to the contemporary black experience.

Directly after the screening, there was a Q & A with the Insecure cast to discusses how they came to the project and their characters.  Viewers are definitely in for a treat and a fun ride with this show.
