We have a mandate Like 0 Twitter Terrence Lotz Follow Aug. 14, 2016, 10:04 a.m. in Religion Views: 563 Like us on facebook “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV Christians sometimes speak of “the priesthood of all believers.” In Old Testament times, people did not approach God directly. A priest acted as the intermediary between God and sinful human beings. With Christ’s victory on the cross, that pattern changed. Now we can come directly into God’s presence without fear (Hebrews 4:16), and we are given the responsibility of bringing others to him also (2 Corinthians 5:18-21). When we are united with Christ as members of his body, we join in his priestly work of reconciling God and people. People often base their self-concept on their accomplishments. But our relationship with Christ is far more important than our jobs, successes, wealth, or knowledge. We have been chosen by God as his very own, and we have been called to represent him to others. Remember that your value comes from being one of God’s children, not from what you can achieve. You have worth because of what God does, not because of what you do. (Tyndal Study Bible) Please pay careful attention to what this scripture is saying. I am not sure if even I understand the importance of the promise and command. Do you realise that as a believer you are part of the Royal Priesthood? As a unbeliever do you know that you are invited to join us? All you need to do is accept Jesus as your personal saviour. I invite you to consider it and accept the invitation. You will never be the same again. The result of Joining the Priest is that we are mandated to spread the Good news. That's the news that Jesus died for our sins. And just like the commentator says that gives us direct access to God. What a privilege. I would like to say at this point that God has you in high esteem that is why he entrusts you with His Mandate. Do Him proud. You have been chosen by God to be the light to the world. Many of us spend time worrying about what people think. We concern ourselves with all the worldly things. It's actually not about that, it's about our relationship with God. If your relationship is good with God the rest will follow. I am not saying that you don't have to work. You can't just apply parts of what the Bible, it is very clear about working. Just like I said yesterday you instructed in the Bible to work hard. So you can't just accept God and think it's gonna just happen. You have to work at it. Work being the key. Read this Scripture. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Mathew 6:33) Amen.
