With Week 8 of the NFL season done and over with let's look and see who the top fantasy players where by position for the week. Like I always do I'll use the scoring system from my 20-team Yahoo league.

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers led the quarterbacks this week with 36.92 fantasy points. Rodgers threw for 246 with 4 touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Rodgers was sacked 3 times, but picked up some extra fantasy points by running the football 6 times for 60 yards.

Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders had a big fantasy week putting up 33.81 fantasy points. Carr threw 4 touchdown passes while totaling 513 passing yards. Carr did run the football 1 time for 13 yards. Carr did lose a fumble and was sacked 2 times.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady comes next on the list with 30.05 fantasy points. Brady threw for 315 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brady even ran the football for positive yardage as he carried the football 1 time for 15 yards. Brady was sacked 4 times in the game.

Blake Bortles out up his fantasy numbers on Thursday night, but they where good enough for him to make the Top 5. Bortles threw for 337 yards and 3 touchdowns plus a 2-point conversion. Bortles also ran the football 4 time for 22 yards. Bortles was sacked 2 times, but still totaled 28.94 fantasy points.

I believe that this is the first time this season that Dak Prescott has cracked the Top 5. Prescott totaled 26.29 fantasy points for by throwing for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. Prescott also ran the football 7 times for 38 yards and a touchdown. Prescott did throw an interception and was sacked 2 times.

The Denver Broncos got a win in Week 8, but Trevor Siemian wasn't the quarterback to have this week. Siemian threw for 276 yards and ran the football 3 times for -2 yards. Siemian threw an interception and lost a fumble while totaling 1.57 fantasy points for the week.

Running Back:

Jordan Howard of the Chicago Bears took the top running back spot for the week with his performance on Monday Night Football. Howard scored 35.70 fantasy points by rushing for 153 yards on 26 carries and scoring a touchdown. Howard also added 4 receptions for 49 yards.

Former Bears running back Matt Forte now with the New York Jets put up 29.55 fantasy points to grab the second spot for the week. Forte carried the football 25 times for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns. Forte also caught 2 passes for 16 yards.

Jonathan Stewart of the Carolina Panthers comes in next on our list with 29.00 fantasy points for Week 8. Stewart ran for 95 yards on 25 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. Stewart caught 1 pass for 25 yards, but did lose some points by losing a fumble.

Theo Riddick of the Detroit Lions returned from injury to put up 28.05 fantasy points. Riddick gets most of his fantasy numbers in the passing game and that's what he did this week. Riddick caught 8 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Riddick did carry the football 11 times for 56 yards to add some extra fantasy points.

Another player from the Thursday night game shows up on the list as Tennessee Titans running Back DeMarco Murray out up 24.80 fantasy points. Murray carried the football 21 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. Murray also caught 1 pass for 5 yards.

I guess we'll stick with Thursday night and say that I hope you stayed away from Jacksonville Jaquars running back Chris Ivory. Ivory had just 2.95 fantasy points for the week. Ivory carried the football just 4 times for 6 yards while catching 1 pass for 6 yards.

Wide Receivers:

Amari Cooper of the Oakland Raiders topped all wide receivers with 32.55 fantasy points in Week 8. Cooper caught 12 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders overtime victory.

J.J. Nelson of the Arizona Cardinals was a good sleeper pick this week as he totaled 25.90 fantasy points. Nelson caught 8 passes for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jamison Crowder of the Washington Redskins caught 9 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown as well as adding 23 return yards for the week. Crowder ended up with 24.16 fantasy points in Week 8.

Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs scored 22.06 fantasy points to grab a Top 5 spot. Hill had 5 receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown and added 78 return yards as well.

Mohamed Sanu of the Atlanta Falcons outscored his bigger named receiving partner (Julio Jones) this week with 21.15 fantasy points, Sanu caught 9 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown in Week 8.

Anquan Boldin of the Detroit Lions had been a solid fantasy receiver in deeper league, but not in Week 8. Boldin scored just 1.15 fantasy points for the week. Boldin was targeted just 3 times and managed just 1 receptions for 4 yards on the week.

Tight End:

Tyler Eifert of the Cincinnati Bengals looked to be back in form as he took the top spot with 24.45 fantasy points for the week. Eifert caught 9 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.

There was a chance that Jordan Reed of the Washington Redskins might not play, but I hope you kept him in our line up. Reed put up 22.65 fantasy points by catching 9 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs caught 7 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. Kelce was worth 21.60 fantasy points.

I think Rob Gronkowski has been on the list every week since Tom Brady returned. "The Gronk" caught 5 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown which was good for 20.90 fantasy points.

Zach Miller of the Chicago Bears and C.J. Fiedorowicz of the Houston Texans tied for the final spot with 14.05 fantasy points. Miller caught 7 passes for 88 yards on Monday night while Fiedorowicz grabbed 5 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown.

At one time Charles Clay was a top tight end in the NFL. He signed a big free agent deal with the Buffalo bills and it's been all downhill. Clay caught just 2 passes for 6 yards in Week 8 and I'm guessing that his 2.10 fantasy points didn't help your team much.

Defense/Special Teams:

The Denver Broncos had 24.60 fantasy points. Denver had 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, a defensive touchdown and a blocked kick in Week 8.

The Carolina Panthers had 23.48 fantasy points. Carolina had 8 sacks to go along with an interception a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown in Week 8.

The Kansas City Chiefs had 16.62 fantasy points. Kansas City had 6 sacks an interception and a fumble recovery in Week 8.

The Seattle Seahawks had 15.66 fantasy points. Seattle had 2 sacks a fumble recovery a defensive touchdown as well as 129 return yards in Week 8.

The San Diego Chargers had 15.49 fantasy points. San Diego had a sack an interception 2 fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in Week 8.

At the bottom of the defensive barrel are the Jacksonville Jaquars. Jacksonville had -3.20 fantasy points in Week 8 and I hope they weren't in your starting line up.

Will Lutz, New Orleans Saints; 18.25 fantasy points.

Graham Gano, Carolina Panthers; 16 fantasy points.

Caleb Sturgis, Philadelphia Eagles; 14 fantasy points.

Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots; 14 fantasy points.

Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys; 13.25 fantasy points.

Sometimes a kicker has a bad week and in Week 8 Mike Nugent of the Cincinnati Bengals had just 1 fantasy point.

There it is Week 8 in review. I hope you had some or even a lot of the top scorers in your line up for the week. Thanks for taking the time to read this article and good luck in Week 9.
