It's Thursday, which means that I'm going to talk about the book I am currently reading. The book is very apt, as it is The Woman Who Died  a Lot  by Jasper Fforde. Why is this apt? Because it is the final book (so far) in the Thursday Next Series

Jasper Fforde is one of my favourite writers. His writing is entertaining, filled with humor, wit, and literary in-jokes. If you've never read his writing then the Thursday series is a good place to start. I began the series a couple of years ago, when someone recommended The Eyre Affair to me. I'd heard of it, but I had no idea what it was about. The reason the book was recommended was because I had been outlining the plot of one of my writing projects. Part of my plot was that a fictional character meets the author who wrote him. If you've ever read any of the books in the Thursday series, you'll understand why the books were recommended.

So, I've reached the final one. But I'm hoping it won't be the final one. Apparently, there is another one in progress, but whether Fforde is at his desk writing it as we speak, I do not know. We will just have to wait and see. In terms of the plot though, I could fully see this one being the final one, or at least the penultimate one. Thursday Next's hair has gone grey, she uses a walking stick, and there's a younger, much more able woman on the scene who could quite possibly fill a Thursday Next shaped hole in SpecOps.

It is purely accidental that I have reached the current end of the series, but if you're reading this and you fancy delving into the series, then you can read my review of the first book The Eyre Affair on my book review blog here.

If you love books and are widely read in literature (particularly the classics) then you will love Jasper Fforde.
