Matt 22:37  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Matt 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Matt 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matt 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

How interesting is this. As Christians everything we are and believe rests on these 2 commandments. Loving God above everything with every part of our being, and loving others as we love ourselves.

I just wanted to have us really think on these today. When I look around the body of Christ this topic of love seems to be the hardest one people are trying to deal with. My prayer is that we can take some of these thoughts with us as we get about our day today and allow the Holy Spirit to bring any needed change into our lives as He brings to attention any place we need to inject more love.

#1 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.

Prov 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.

This just makes sense. When we keep God as the centre of our heart it will flow into every area of our lives. Some might ask “well how do I do that?” This is where it takes a bit of strength and the renewing of our mind. Sometimes our carnal humanistic (world view on things) comes and tries to hinder our walk with God. We need to spend time seeking the Lord in Prayer, Worship and His Word.

Finding out what God says on everything that rises up in your life and begin casting down the wrong belief system to believe the truth of God’s Word. As we focus our hearts upon God throughout our day, I can guarantee you that you will become a nicer person.

Hope is born out of a heart that fully trusts and knows that God will do as He has promised, and hope never disappoints the Bible says.   Isn’t God good! Even the fact that we love God was given to us by Him. If you are new in your walk of love with the Lord, continue to just look up and allow Gods love to be shed abroad in your heart, we love Him because He first loved us.

#2 Love your neighbour as yourself.

This sound pretty simple doesn’t it. The way you would like to be treated is the way we love others. This will mean we will need to be quick to forgive. When we do something wrong we like it to disappear out of people’s minds pretty quickly. Well I know I do anyway, I’m sure I’m not alone. We need to strive to have that same attitude, to take our un-forgiveness and cast it to Jesus and ask for the Grace to love the one we are offended at.

1Cor 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Paul had to correct the Corinthian church for all their sillies. They were bickering, being envious, getting into little groups and gossiping about one another. He called them carnal and walking as the rest of the world. As Christians we have a higher standard to show the world. Love will be what sets us apart and loving our neighbour is going to mean no more gossiping or having an opinion on everyone else’s life… It can be hard when we think we know everything… lol

Love will not say or do anything to another person that it isn’t happy to have done to itself. If we want to get honest it puts a lot of things into perspective. If we read 1 Corinthians 13 we can see a list of qualities that really show the characteristics of love. We’d do well if we followed them.

What are some other things that we would love to have happen to us? What about being blessed with finance. Some people don’t like to hear that. Lol. Maybe I’m ruffling a few feathers today. Who can you go and give money too today. Set aside some money, pray and ask the Lord to show you who to give it to. You will be more blessed from your giving, trust me it’s a spiritual law. How about furniture or goods? I’m not just talking about giving the stuff that’s old and you’re sick of seeing. How about blessing someone with something you know they just love of yours. It might hurt you, yes.. Lol It is love and sowing an amazing seed. Often people that get mad at this type of message of finance are in fact just very stingy in love. I’ve met people that have 10 coats and won’t give one away if they met someone with none. This is not love.

Love will believe in faith for something so they can give it away when it arrives. How else can we love our neighbour as ourselves? Babysit for a single mum maybe? Serve in the church and NOT notice all those that are not. I remember when for many years I would turn up and set up church which we un-packed from a trailer. For quite a chunk of that time I would look around at all those that would turn up just on time for the service to start and gripe in my heart at them. God said to me “why are you doing it?” He showed me my motive wasn’t love. I had to change the reason why I was serving and serve because I wanted to see them blessed and I genuinely wanted to save them the trouble from having to do it. I can tell you that with the help of the Holy Ghost I started loving setting up church in the mornings. After an attitude adjustment I began sowing into the church with my love not with my carnal critical attitude.

There are so many ways that we can love others today, pray and ask the Lord how you can purposely love someone around you today. Perhaps you can buy a colleague lunch today, choose one you find hard to get along with and write me and let me know how it went. I’m so sure God will open doors for you to share the message of the Gospel as well as demonstrating it with your love.

I hope you were challenged and encouraged today..

Be blessed
