What It Means To Be in Your 20s Like 1 Twitter Moe & Carina Follow Aug. 17, 2016, 12:22 p.m. in Life and Styles Views: 928 Like us on facebook Let’s face it, life in your 20’s becomes more real. You’re finishing school. You’re graduating. You’re starting a new job in your career field. You have bills to pay. Rent money is due. You’re getting kicked off your parents’ insurance (yea you remember that time). You’re losing friends, gaining new ones, going through a break up…the list goes on. These situations can get pretty stressful, so it’s good to have a balance somewhere in there. There’s no guide of where you should be in life at a certain point, it’s all just society’s expectation and as we age, those expectations catch up to us. People expect you to have it all together. A good paying job, an apartment or on your way to buying a house, a life partner with wedding bells in the forecast, or the famous “When are you getting married?” they ask, “when are you having kids? When will you go back to school? ” etc… One Day… That’s all you can say. Who knows when these things will happen? Below is a list of all I know is the definition of being in your 20’s and I aspire to do, hoping you would too. 1. FIND YOURSELF This is something everyone should do. You should want to know who you are, what kind of person you are, your purpose in life. This is also something that can take a lifetime to achieve so don’t rush yourself figuring that out. 2. MAKE MISTAKES We are all humans, therefore no one is perfect. Your 20’s is the perfect time for trial and error. You fail and learn from those failures. As long as you are not constantly repeating the same mistakes, then you are pretty much on the right path. So embrace all your flaws. 3. WORK Pretty much self explanatory. How else will you support yourself? How else will you secure your future? You’re a young adult now, hopefully you’re getting that 401k benefit, becoming financially stable. Responsibilities are part of your life, so work hard now (and stop calling off work so much) so you can play later (or now too- find a balance) 4. LOVE Love yourself. That should be number one. Self love is the best love. Love your family. Love your friends. Fall in love (with a great person worth your time) Love the life you have been given. You have no idea how lucky you are. 5. HAVE FUN There is too much goodness in the world not to take the time to enjoy it. Do what makes you happy. Do something different. Pick up a hobby, go out more with friends, visit a family member…take advantage of it now. 6. TRAVEL THE WORLD Major #LifeGoals ! The world is too big to be stuck in one place all your life. Take a vacation. Be adventurous and spontaneous. Explore a new culture. Meet interesting people. See the wonders and beautiful sights we have been blessed with. 7. EXERCISE They (researchers I suppose) recommend that you exercise at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes max. Health is wealth. Your health is important. Eat well, drink plenty of water (a gallon a day), and get routine medical check-ups (hope you got that health insurance now). Take a walk, head to the gym, turn up the volume in the comfort of your home and shake a lil’ something. 8. HAVE FAITH There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing lasts forever. Whether you believe in a higher power or not, HOPE is always there. 9. BE YOU There is no one else out there like you. Don’t compare your life to anyone else’s. Walk your own path and leave your own trail. Travel a journey that you can be proud of when you look back on it. You want to think about your past and smile at those memories. 10. LIVE Every moment. Remind yourself that it’s going to be OK. Don’t forget to smile and laugh. It’s the simple things that make it all worth it. Well, enjoy your “Tantalizing Twenties” now before the “Dirty 30s”approaches sooner than you think! Thanks for reading. We hope you found it relatable. Feel free to share!
