What on earth is a Bullet Journal and why you need to start one RN. Like 0 Twitter Alexandra Florence Follow Feb. 12, 2017, 8:31 p.m. in Life and Styles Views: 796 Like us on facebook Hi, Guys! Sorry, I’ve been a little MIA recently but I’m finally getting back into the swing of things and it is 100% down to my Bullet Journal. I have to thank my best friend Jenni for introducing me to this as it is completely and utterly up my street! I’ve been trying to look for a planner recently that would contain everything I wanted – then (as Jenni pointed out) you can design your own! (yey) I’ve been looking for something creative to dive into and this is just so perfect. So, if you’ve never heard of a Bullet Journal then this will be a little guide to what one is and why you should 100% get invested. S t a r t i n g I t O f f. Okay, first of all, you’ll need to grab yo’self some supplies! Probably the most important part- the notebook. If you research Bullet Journal, loads of bloggers will recommend the book I’m about to, which is the Leuchtturm1917 notebook; which you can get on amazon prime for £12.00. Most people use both the dotted and the gridded books because it helps with the structure of your pages, also the pages are very good quality, so you can use thick pens and it won’t run though! Depending on how diverse and colourful you want to make your pages, I’ve opted for 20 Staedtler pens ( even then I should have probably got more). I n d e x Okay so now it’s time to start your bullet journal, starting off with an Index is probably a good idea, you’ll have so many pages for so many different things so best to keep them all in one place. You can lay it out however you like but with the Leuchtturm book they have index pages already set out (how fab). After you’ve laid out your index, it’s then time to make a key. A key is probably one of the most important things you’ll decide on as it is a cornerstone of the bullet journal. This is what you’ll use on your day to day journal posts, so make sure it makes sense to you! I’ve gone for a slightly woodland/vine theme throughout my journal with a few deviations just to make it a little different. Y e a r l y P l a n n e r So this is where your yearly planner will start! Essentially is just a yearly plan for the big things like birthdays and anniversary aka your calendar that you can add to and from month to month. Again, you can design it however you like – I already have made mistakes on mine but it’s okay! It’s just a journal, you will make mistakes but just have fun with it! P e r s o n a l P a g e s Now time for the fun part! Personal pages – these were the most fun because it’s something that you can track yourself that you might not be able to do in a normal journal/ planner. For me – I’ve dedicated two pages to my body – one page on my weight loss goals. (Which I’m not going to post because it has my weight all over it and I’m not quite ready for the internet to know how much I weigh) BUT this is just a little insight into my measurements page – guys, the title took me ages but I’m so proud. I haven’t yet figured out how to finish it but it’ll just display my weight loss progress (if there is any) on inches lost! M o n t h l y P l a n n e r This is also optional! All pages are optional and you don’t have to do them in the order i have – just google bullet journal too for inspo ideas. This is essentially just a monthly view in a little bit more detail for you to keep track of etc – more importantly, it just lets me be creative hehe H a b i t T r a c k e r Now this is my absolute favourite feature of my Bullet journal – The Habit Tracker. Essentially you write down the things you want to track, for me I make sure I actually do what I set out to do. P.S this is in progress, I haven’t coloured in all my blocks yet – I just wanted to take nice photos before daylight ran out and I wanted to nap. Anyway, you essentially just colour in a block for everything that you do on your habit tracker and at the end of the month review what your habits are. Maybe there is a pattern that you didn’t even know – then when it’s on paper you can take steps to correct it. I love this feature. Because it’s my first habit tracker, I wanted to track silly things like ‘Brushed Teeth etc’ (Also my boyfriend says i never walk the dog so I’m going to shove it in his face when I actually track it haha) S p e n d i n g L o g / W e e k l y P l a n n e r Spending log is completely optional but I want to save so I’m hoping that because i actually have to physically write down what i spend my money on it might make me a little more reluctant to spend it. It consists of a table of the Date/ Store / Items/ Cash/Card/Cost & Balance. As I started my Bullet Journal at the end of the week, I’ve just played about with weekly layouts. It’s your bullet journal, you can design each week differently to the next, want it fancy? Do it fancy. Want it simple- do it simply. The Weekly part of your journal will be the most important part as it’ll be the part you use every day. Also, it doesn’t have to be a planner – you can add notes such as; had pasta for dinner tonight or boyfriend bought me home desert yey. Essentially what I’m saying is this is a fantastic idea for people who are a little creative and who want to have a little fun when trying to add a little bit of structure to your life! One blog I found massively helpful which is on Buzz Feed WTF Is A Bullet Journal And Why Should You Start One? It is a very confusing thing to get your head around and I’ve tried my very hardest to explain but it took me a while to go from ‘wtf how do I do this’ to ‘oooooohhhh that’s what it means’. This website just named ‘Bullet Journal’ Which also gives you an amazing run down on what bullet journal is and how to lay it out etc. If anyone has any questions what so ever – please don’t hesitate to ask!
