1Peter 2&3 What’s On Your Bathroom Mirror?

Remember the wicked queen in Snow White? Each morning she would stand before her magic mirror and say these words: Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest in the land? And each morning it would reply that she was. But one day the mirror replied, My Queen you are the fairest in the land but Snow White is a thousand times more beautiful than you. Thus the queen set out to oust Snow White from her realm through trickery and deceit. But in the end, it is the beautiful Snow White who becomes the fairest queen in the land---because evil never wins.

Sometimes we act like the evil queen when we look into God’s mirror and don’t get the response we were hoping for. Instead, we fall for the ads which scream “health, wealth, youth”  and begin to worship the created things, not the Creator Himself.

But God’s mirror says we are the most beautiful all the time for we are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God from the foundation of the world. We were created in His image and knit together in our mother’s womb. He knows the hairs on our head and before we speak a word. We are more valuable than many sparrows and we are crowned with glory and honor.

God doesn’t look at our outward beauty but the inner beauty of a tranquil and quiet spirit which is revealed in our harmonious, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and humble lives.

Whether slave, wife, or husband; those who submit become more like Christ who mirrored all of those qualities and more. So what’s on your bathroom wall?
