We all know the drill... boy meets girl...boy loves girl and girl loves boy...boy marries girl and girl marries boy...

But what happens after that?

What happens when all the attraction fades, and you find out who you thought she was, is not who she really is. When you lay on your bed on a rainy Friday morning and wonder what on earth possessed you to marry this person.

What happens then? When he gets fired from his job and is no longer making the big bucks and you just had twins. What happens when he is no longer appealing because you see his other side and she is no longer attractive because she is always angry and sad.

What happens then?

Amos 3:3

Can two walk together without agreeing on the direction?

Well, it is time to find purpose.

Attraction fades. It may bring you together, but purpose will keep you together. Find purpose for your union. Why are we together, what has God called us to do together, what is our task? To raise Godly seed? To do ministry? To be a synergistic force to stand for Christ in this generation? What is our purpose?

If you agree, you will work together.

Ecc 4:9

Two people are better than one, for they can help each other succeed.

One can chase a thousand, but two can chase tens of thousands. If one falls down, the other can help him up.

Perhaps it is not what you think, perhaps it is not that you married the wrong person, perhaps it is because you have not found purpose in your life and marriage. Before you give up, before you throw in the towel, try this one last thing, find purpose and walk towards it together.

There is nothing sweeter than having a partner in purpose where you both have a goal and help each other get there. You both run...come rain, come shine...you encourage and cheer each other on because you both are committed to purpose. This journey of purpose deepens love and commitment.

Before and after marriage, find purpose. You may not have had a direction in mind before you married but you can find it now. It is never too late to find purpose.

Purpose makes it all worthwhile and glorifies God.
