WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

(If you are not completely up to date on Game of Thrones, do not read on.)

The battle for the Iron Throne is in full swing. There are epic battles as well as dragons and severed heads flying everywhere. Well, doesn't that just sum up Game of Thrones? And yet, with all the bloodshed and 'winter is coming' warnings, everyone in Westeros continues to name their weapons and battle it out over the kingdom's most uncomfortable chair, blissfully unaware of the siege of ice monsters heading their way. Still, it takes some time to formulate the perfect name for a sword made of Valerian steel, am I right?

It's a pretty safe bet to say, Game of Thrones will culminate in a war to end all wars between the white walkers and the citizens of Westeros. The underlying question remains at the back of every fan's mind, 'who will win?'

"When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die."

Who will sit on the iron throne in the final moments of HBO's heart-wrenching rollercoaster?

Let us briefly delve into the Seven Kingdoms and find ourselves some rule worthy candidates:

Jon Snow

A fairly obvious choice, I'd imagine. The son of the North, born again into the fire by the Lord of Light, is the choosing of many to be the surviving King of the Seven Kingdoms. The former Lord Commander of the Nights Watch is embroiled in a largely conceived theory regarding his own heritage, with many fans speculating that Jon is actually of Targaryen descent. Read the full theory here...

Daenerys Targaryen

Another palpable choice. The Mother of Dragons has been painted by the show's creators as a benevolent but unrelenting force of nature. I agree, it took a while to really get started. But it's not her fault, her dragons rarely listen to the poor girl's map instructions. Now, she's on the move however and it seems she is ready to take King's Landing for herself. Will she end up on the Iron Throne?

Sansa Stark

Starks these days seem to be in very short supply. Whether being butchered at a wedding or beheaded for seeking the truth, Starks appear to be a dying breed. What a turnaround it would be if a Stark secured the seat of Westeros. It couldn't be Arya, she couldn't sit still for long enough. Bran is a possibility and Rickon, well Rickon... Nevermind. The most plausible would be Sansa, she looks like a girl who was meant to be queen.

Tyrion Lannister

Who doesn't want to see Tyrion in charge of the Seven Kingdoms? This guy has earned it. Tyrion is no doubt the character with the closest thing to a level head in Westeros. Though he is backing the Targaryen claim to the throne over in Essos, Tyrion, despite being ridiculed about his size, has always proven that he has what it takes to lead. Why not put those talents to good use on the world's pointiest throne?

My pick: I've had a theory all along about who I'd imagine would sit on the Iron Throne when all is said and done. And here we go, hold on to your hats.

"I told you not to trust me."

Peter Baelish! Yes, there goes your hat. For me, Littlefinger has always been far too devious for anyone to trust him. This man is a master of manipulation and trickery, in fact, I doubt there's anything he couldn't get if he wanted it. The motives behind his covert operations are yet to be revealed but it seems only fitting that his end goal would be the prize of Westeros. Crowning himself King? Now, that is sly.

Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Tyrell, Martell, Baratheon? Choose your house. And choose wisely.

Thanks for letting me ramble,
