As I write this the weather outside is yuck.  It’s cold, wet, cloudy and windy.  It’s damp and dark.  I’m not sure that ‘yuck’ is an official weather term used by Environment Canada, but I think it suits the conditions outside.  The dark can be depressing.  The cold, damp wind bites into the bones.  The only solution to these kinds of days is a warm blanket and a fireplace.

Unfortunately, some people experience these conditions in their everyday lives.  They feel dark inside.  The hurts they feel often cut right to their bones.  Yuck may describe that kind of weather, but there are no suitable words to describe that kind of feeling emotionally or spiritually.

But, there is an answer.  In Romans 15:13, Paul says, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (KJV)  This is Paul’s wish for his friends in Rome.  We also need to understand that through the power of the Holy Ghost we can have joy and peace and we can also abound in hope.  God will give it, if we will ask it.
