Somewhere between middle school and grown-up life, someone peeled me off the wallpaper and I began to bloom. My wild and crazy husband of 28 years deserves much credit for the person I’ve become. He also deserves praise for encouraging me (even while having 3 sons in high school and being in the midst of our adoption journey) to return to college to complete my degree. I graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary studies (cognates: Education and Theology). I currently research, write, and provide project support for a foundation that is passionate about meeting the spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of children.
Our oldest two sons graduated from online high school (after a combination of homeschool, public school, and private school) before heading to university. The oldest is married and has one son. Our youngest son attended online high school, US public school, national school, and boarding school. He currently attends Liberty University. We adopted our daughter from Thailand in 2007. For more about that journey visit my blog Nine Year Pregnancy. My favorite new role in life: Being “Mimi” to my precious grandson! Seeing his eyes light up when I enter a room, or having him try to hand me a book through the computer screen during a video call, melts my heart.
Climbing the root structure of a large tree beside a long waterfall to reach the river below (three small boys in flip-flops following along), I realized what an adventure my life had become! My father was in the Air Force, so I grew up in many locations like Texas, California, Illinois, and Germany. Since being married, I have lived in 4 countries outside of the US and visited about a dozen others. I have also visited at least 34 states. I love to travel and often tell my friends that I’d rather spend money on traveling than on things. Writing poetry, songs, and articles kindles a fire in me. Here are a couple you may enjoy: Sole Writer and Wash Over Me.
I enjoy helping families with their education, parenting, and adoption concerns.
