Hi! My name is Carly. I like to identify as many different things:
Partner to Alee
Chicken nugget connoisseur
Coke Zero Fiend
The list could go on and on, but the one label I embrace the most is mother to Oakland. I enjoy writing about things I have lived firsthand, so I generally write about my journey to become a mother and my experience of being a mother.
I have battled infertility and put my body through various cycles of IVF and miscarriages before my partner and I welcomed our son Oakland into the world in 2015. I like to write about infertility, fertility treatments and being in a same-sex relationship because these are the things that I am asked about most in my daily life. I have realised that I am lucky to be in a position where I can educate and inform others not only in a similar situation, but also the wider public and hopefully help promote a positive message about infertility and gay parenting.
I have two goals in my writing, I hope to be able to open people up to the idea that same-sex families are no different to hetero families and I also want to be able to provide support and a basis for education for those living with infertility.
If you enjoy a lurk (you know we all do) feel free to suss me on Instagram: @thg_wyf
