REVIEW

This book was summery, fluffy and exactly what I expected from a Morgan Matson book. It felt like reading Since You've Been Gone again, in the best way. It had a completely different story and set of characters, but it had the same feel to it.

Our protagonist, Andie, was likable and sweet. I loved seeing her develop and slowly figure out that you cannot plan your whole life. Andie has some amazing friends, whom she shares everything with. When it, however, comes to boyfriends, she just likes to fool around and never get into anything serious. She is constantly aware of not telling too much about herself to new people due to her dad's job as a congressman. I really liked seeing, how much her dad's career had affected her and how all of her relationships were affected by it.

Andie’s dad come into a scandal and is left at home without anything to do. This leads to him and Andie starting to build a relationship again. I loved seeing them start to interact, it happened slowly and realistic. The background story with Andie's dead mom was also a really good aspect, that I think were handled really well.

Then we have Clark, the love interest. Clark was one of the best things about this book. He was nerdy and sweet. I loved seeing him help Andie, and how much Andie developed because of him. Clark, 'the nerdy kid', were the one who helped Andie, 'the cool kid', develop and I really liked that aspect of it. I also really liked seeing how uncomfortable Clark was with Andie's friends in the beginning, and how he learned to find his place in the group.

Clark is an author and some pages from his books were sometimes written between chapters. Where I in Fangirl hated to get interrupted by another book like that, I really felt like it worked well in this book.

The plot started out really good, but the middle part went a little slowly and I found the big reveal really obvious. I never found the book boring or anything near that, but the ending felt really rushed compared to the slow middle, and that did not work for me. I did like how things turned out at the end, but I would have liked to see some more conversation between Clark and Andie.

Lastly, the references to Since You've Been Gone were seriously the BEST. I loved seeing all of my favorite characters again, even though it only was for a quick second. SYBG will forever be my favorite (review here), and the references worked so well, and didn’t feel forced at all.

I overall really liked this book. It made me miss the summer holiday a lot and I really enjoyed all of the characters. There were some small things that annoyed me about this book but I overall really liked it!
