My first love in life was television news broadcasting, and after graduating from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in the early 90s, I was in heaven, working all over the country as a producer, executive producer, and news director, to name just a few jobs. I ended my career running the department that produced all the video content for The Weather Channel and The Weather Channel interactive. I was at TWC for 10 years, before the tug of being a more present mother tugged hard enough at my heart.
I left TV broadcasting, and started my own business to give me the flexibility. I had found a new "love": Cooking with my kids. I opened a children's cooking school for 3 years, and we were just getting going when my husband got a huge opportunity with his company that would move us close to his family. We couldn't say no! I sold my business, and took on my favorite job to date.
I'm a stay-at-home mom who gets to focus solely on the actual loves of my life: my husband and two beautiful girls!
Now, I'm trying to navigate life without an outside job, and figure out my role. It is a constant journey for me, and I've learned just when you think you've found your groove: there is another fork in the road.
My first love still tugs at me, and you may see many blogs here related to news stories, especially politics. However, parenting is my current focus, so I suspect that part of my life will sneak into the fold as well.
I love writing, and can be long-winded. I hope you find humor, commonality, and especially a place to connect when you read the words I type. Let's be honest, my real hope is that you never get bored or turned away by what I write!
