I can see myself saying this a few times in the course of posting recipes, but I am going to say it nevertheless, and mean it- THIS is my favourite oatmeal recipe.
It is an old friend, and the ultimate comfort food if you’re starting to get sick of chocolatey stuff.
A head’s up when it comes to recipes like this- frozen fruit is your friend. So cheap and lasts absolutely forever in the freezer.
Ingredients
60g Oats
100ml Unsweetened Almond Milk
100g Plain soya yoghurt (for this I use Alpro Plain)
80g Frozen cherries
6g Chia seeds
6g Blackstrap molasses (you can sub this for maple syrup and it works well, but i’m a sucker for molasses; getting a little extra iron and protein from sugar is a no-brainer for me.)
Method
1. We’ve been here before. I want you to mix that all together in whatever order you please.
2. Store in a jar or sealed container of some kind overnight. I said in mylast oatmeal post that you should avoid any metallic containers if you plan to microwave your oats in the morning. I trust you all to not make the culinary faux-pas that is microwaving yoghurt, and eat this breakfast cold. Serves 1.
If you want to add a bit of crunch to your Cherry Pie Oats, chuck a handful of buckwheat groats on top in the morning. You won’t regret it.
