When it comes to cold temperatures, we like to spend time in a comfortable room warming ourselves next to the fire or under a heavy blanket. In winter, we especially appreciate a room that makes us feel relaxed and cosy.
You don’t need a lot of effort or money to feel comfortable. Actually, you will be surprised how easy it is to create such an environment.
When it comes to warm décor, I personally love to use handmade rugs. Without any doubt, they are one of my favourite things when it comes to warming up the place. Over the years, I have developed a trusty relationship with my supplier and they told me some facts about the handmade area rug. Those are now the rules I respect, especially after using a handmade carpet in my home. Even after 18 years of purchasing rugs, I still have a lot of interest in one of a kind carpets.
With that in mind, here are some tips and tricks to make a room look warmer in 2018.
1. Add a warm texture to your room
Textured walls and cosy quilts all around your home can really make a space comfortable because these layers represent warmth and cosiness together. Think of layering texture on furniture like a woollen cover for your sofa set, chenille pillows, and a wall hanging carpet close to your window. Before using accessories for your home, make sure that these are in the same colour or similar shade. Even your decorative objects can create a warming atmosphere.
2. Warm colours
To add warmth to your home, you should use bright and vibrant colours. The right colour palette can instantly warm up a room and make you feel welcome. Of course, this doesn’t mean you have to start painting your walls in orange or yellow colours. In fact, if we are talking about red, then you should distinguish two types of this colour - cool and warm red. So, it is important to choose the right colour. It doesn’t matter if you like a monochromatic look for your home. You can still use soft colours only in darker shades (double coat). If you are worried that your room will have a dull look, then you can add some bright colours here and there, to create a “pop” effect.
3. Keep your surface warm
To achieve cosiness in the room, the most suitable and easiest method to use is a handmade area rug. It has the ability to change and refresh the look of a place. A carpet can define a style, soft texture, cosiness and can also serve as a starting point for decorating the room. Find some handmade woollen carpet for this winter and change the look of your entire space by placing it in your living area. Rugs and Beyond have recently launched the five most beautiful modern woollen carpets which you can buy up to 50% off.
4. Use the fireplace
This is the perfect time to fulfil your lifelong dream and build a fireplace in your living room. Use rocks and stones to bring out that natural and elegant appearance which will go great with your carpet. Then place a carpet and a sofa close to your fire place. This will not only create a real warm place for you to relax, but also add warmth to the décor.
