Hi! Reviewer Girl here; I decided to do my first Review on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two of the Special Rehearsal Edition Script.
My mum bought me the book yesterday which was the 4th August 2016, she got it in Tesco’s for £9 which is cheaper than I thought it would be, which is a bonus.
I’m a massive Harry Potter fan myself, so I was quite excited to get the book as I saw fans raving about it on my person Snapchat as they went to the midnight book signing/release of the book, so I finally got it and wow… I’m never one to criticise J.K. Rowling’s work because she’s a FANTASTIC writer, as without the Harry Potter books/Movies or the Wizarding World my life wouldn’t be as complete as it is now. I know literally everything about the Harry Potter franchise and have recently been to the Platform 9 and 3/4 Shop at Kings Cross Station in London, and I’m hoping to go to the Harry Potter Studios in London next week. So I’m a massive fan…
But I started reading the book, and it was highly disappointing, The way it was written was fine by me as I used to do Drama in High School so I’m used to reading Scripts, but the story line, and parts of it is just atrocious!!
For instance, Hermione is the Minister for Magic! Don’t get me wrong, Hermione is an incredibly smart witch and all, but I don’t think she should have been the minister of magic.
And the quality of the writing is worse than most Fanfictions I’ve read. I’ve read better fanfictions than this story. Like the lovely sweet trolley lady turns into a vicious crazy psychopath if you try and get off the train before you get to Hogwarts, like why? why would you do that??
I’m not going to reveal anymore of the book than I have, but I’m sorry J.K. Rowling, this is by far the worst boom you’ve written. I’m hoping the theatrical version of the play is much better, than what is written here.
I recommend to anyone who wants to read it, to borrow it from a friend or borrow it from the library as it’s not as good as some people say and it’s highly overrated for what I’m reading.
