My makeup essentials for 2017 plus trends for this year!
A lot of makeup trends were developed last year and some would go with us as a new year begins. Here are my makeup essentials, also, added trends that would dominate the makeup world this year:
Primer + Foundation or BB Cream
2017 would be about simple makeup. The dewy base was a hit last year and it will continue this year. My favorite primer would be Aritaum’s All Day Lasting Primer and I’ve been using this for almost a year now. Primers are a must for your makeup to last. I don’t usually use foundations but prefer BB creams. I’ve been using Mizon Snail Repair Blemish Balm because of the benefits snail has proved to me.
Concealers & Color Correctors
We have appreciated the use of color correctors through 2016 and they will still be of great use for this year. Different makeup brands would still continue to create innovative products that can conceal and color correct blemishes. I’m still loving Aritaum’s Full Cover concealer.
We’re saying goodbye to stenciled brows this year. 2017 would be about natural brows. Naturally groomed brows would be the trend this year, with a little filling in using brow powder and some clear gel to make your brows stay put. Most people would go microblading this year too but I’m not ready for that yet even if you tell me it doesn’t hurt.
Vibrant eye shadows
As seen on the catwalk for Spring-Summer 2017, vibrant eyeshadows would be preferred this year. Smokey eyes would stay in 2016. I’m pretty excited to use this Spring Fling Palette I picked up from Ulta. Glossy lids would still continue to be on trend too.
Eyeliner & Falsies
We don’t go heavy on the eyeliner this year but a little of it wouldn’t hurt. Falsies would also be an essential but I’m no fan of falsies since I have pretty sensitive eyes. I would turn to my trusted mascaras for that eyelashes-like-falsies look. I love Maybelline’s Great Lash and Falsies, for Kbeauty, my favorite would always be the Lash Perm Curl Fix.
Blush & Highlighter
Pretty pink cheeks are seen to take over this year. Don’t go Aunt Sally but just a little dab of your favorite blush for that lovely flush would do. I’m still in love with Etude House’s Berry Delicious Blusher. We’re also saying goodbye to heavy contouring but highlighting and strobing are staying for the new year. I love The Face Shop’s Highlighter Beam. which is the perfect dupe for The Benefit’s High Beam. I would sometimes opt to brush some of Elf’s Baked Blush in Passion Pink on the apples of my cheeks for some flush and highlight in one.
2017 is all about bold lips. Pretty puckers are a must and colors like fuchsia, purple and corals are said to dominate. This makes me happy since Corals are my go-to lip color.
Remember, it’s alright to follow the trends but good skin would still be the best makeup. No matter how you conceal those blemishes, your skin’s condition is the most important. Believe me, I learned the hard way. Let your skin breathe and treat it well.
Be pretty, be happy, be you!
