What better way to liven up a cold a dreary weekend by escaping to the warmth of the sunny Gold Coast, which is exactly what I did this past weekend.
Situated on Australia’s east coast a short 30 minute drive from Coolangatta airport will find you situated in surfers paradise with its picturesque beaches and amazing nightlife. My accommodation for the weekend, surfers paradise backpackers which is highly recommendable especially if you don’t want to blow your budget on a hotel. The hostel had some fantastic facilities including its on bar, tennis court equipped with basketball ring, pool and the boys there even run a shuttle bus into the city.
The weekend for me was mostly a relaxation based one spending majority of my time at the beach or poolside. Saturday night though was spent with the crew at “the hangover crawl,” a club crawl which I find to be useful if you want a night out but are traveling solo and want to meet some new people. The hangover crawl run a fantastic night covering all the hotspots of the Gold Coast and you even get to enjoy some ten pin bowling at strike bowling while getting to know everyone on the crawl.
The Sunday recovery day was another lazy day beachside whilst also venturing to king tutts putt putt mini golf for a bit of fun. That night was spent enjoying a beautiful burger dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe which is magnificently located looking out over Cavill mall.
If you are looking at traveling to the Gold Coast and are wanting a bit more adventuring be sure to hit up the world famous theme parks, movie world, dream world and wet n wild. All are located within 10km of each other and offer something different at each park, to save some money be sure to purchase a three park super pass which will enable you to enter three of the parks over multiple days on the one ticket.
