Do you sometimes get this feeling that someone is chasing you?
You can feel it at the back of your neck. Your ears start to hear all the silence around you. You want to look back but can’t. You see him from the corner of your eyes and just want to start running.
I feel like someone is chasing me right now. I want to run.
I can feel the vibrations on the floor that are caused by his footsteps. I can feel the air he is exhaling.
I feel a shadow chasing me.
I start to run. So does he.
My palms and feet are ice cold. My lungs are raging fire.
I don’t know how long I have been running. My vision is getting blurry. I can see someone else, in front of me. He is running too. I need to chase him.
I need to chase his silhouette.
The more I run, the more I leave the shadow behind.
The more I run, the more I get farther from the silhouette.
All of a sudden a bright light flashes from the end of the corridor and he is gone, the man I was chasing. But the shadow is still behind me. I need to escape him. The only way to do so is to jump off the railing of the corridor. Yes!
As I trudge and reach the dead end, I grab the cold rusted railings and jump over. Still did not look back.
I will hug the ground in a few seconds, close my eyes and probably never open them again. Before that, I can see my shadow on the ground. And I realized something.
It was me chasing myself. I was the silhouette. I was the shadow. I was me.
There was a loud thump on the ground and I woke up. Standing in the middle of the corridor. Probably I was daydreaming again.
But all of a sudden, I get goosebumps on the back of my neck.
There is dead silence around me.
There is a shadow standing behind me.
