Looking ahead

You know that feeling when you’ve popped the last Christmas card or newsletter into the mail? That’s just how I feel, now that Cozy Christmas Sweets is published.kindle-christmas-325-dpi

Those short stories and favorite holiday recipes are my Christmas greetings to my wonderful readers and friends.

With that book behind me, I can once again focus on my current work in progress, Mrs.Thistlethwaite and the Magpie.

[projected release, Spring 2017]

Mrs. Matilda (Tillie) Thistlethwaite is introduced as a minor character in A Corpse in the Chapel and appears again in the short story collection Cozy Campfire Shorts, where the stories take the reader on a journey through her life from high school to old age. She appears in my Christmas collection, as well, in A Mrs.Thistlethwaite Christmas.

Mrs. T., as she likes to be called, is renowned in her hometown of Tillamook, Oregon, for her baking, and she shares her yummy recipe for Sweet ‘n Easy Christmas Cinnamon Rolls in Cozy Christmas Sweets.

As we get acquainted with Mrs. T., we discover her many remarkable qualities. Besides her baking skills, she is a talented artist (watercolors) and she has a prodigious memory kept sharp by continuously gilman-style-mockuplearning new and arcane languages. (In the upcoming book she embarks on the study of Braille.)

Tillie is practical, wise and compassionate, but lest you fear she is too much of a paragon, I must tell you of her weakness; Mrs. T. loves garden gnomes!  She populates her gardens with an ever-growing assortment of the grotesque creatures, to the dismay of her cat, Agatha, and her tortoise, Edgar.  It has been suggested by the less charitable of her acquaintances that she likes gnomes because of her own resemblance to these chubby little figures. While she shares their rosy-cheeked smile, Mrs.T. will assure you that, as in her eccentric style of dress, she surrounds herself with the quirky statues because they give her joy.
