Granville Island is the place to be if you are visiting Vancouver, or if you want to find a sophisticated spot to gather with friends, for a spectacular view of the city – the lush locale, Yaletown - on a night that you want to take a break from the ever-buzzing downtown core. You will find Dockside Restaurant here, and it’s a requirement for nights, done right. A visit to Dockside patio can start with a unique and calm arrival; Of course you can drive, but the best way to start the night is by travelling across the beautiful, cool-water, on a guided sail, over to the Island. After a long day of work, shopping or touring the city, you can relax and take in the view of the Inlet, while you venture over to the charming Island. A short sail-away from the rest of the city, is where you will find this luxurious Patio. Dockside Patio has been voted the best in Vancouver for six years in a row.
Walk across the wooden dock, through the arts infused culture of the Island (theatre and music thrive here), and you will find this award-winner, tucked away at the very back of the Island, right along the Waterfront. The atmosphere here is very warm and welcoming, complete with lovely staff, who make it feel like a home-away-from-home, and loads of visually stimulating décor – a delight for your senses. Enjoy casual cuisine from daily al-a-carte menus, in the company of great people, with a quality view. The naturalistic environment at this location cannot be beat.
Fine food in a calm and peaceful setting, makes for some of the best nights planned. You can get together here for dinner or drinks, although you will probably want to try the food - We think you’ll stay in the cozy atmosphere for the entire night. Dockside has a great selection of wines, and multiple, mouthwatering options for seafood; This is a place that gives you a lot of choices. We were welcomed by our waiter with ‘dinner water’ – it’s the new thing to do - seriously, they’ll have you hooked on it. They do really great pasta, and they also have options for gluten free noodles, or “un-pasta” as it’s named. Try the zucchini ribbons, they are delish!
Equally delicious is the decorating - Wine bottles and waterfalls, tropical fish and flower-beds to decorate the restaurant, and the seating is cozily structured to allow for great conversation in a low-key environment. It’s the patio that looks fancy, but still feels friendly. Dockside Patio on Granville Island is reminiscent of Hawaii Island, a beautiful place to visit where the air smells like natural ozone and fragrant flowers. If you look closely, you will find potted blossoms, behind your oversized bar-stool, which you’ve probably snuggled into by the end of the night. That’s right, we said snuggle – Dockside Patio is the only patio that provides you with a fleece, ruffle-trimmed blanket, to you warm you in the cool breeze off the waterfront, completing your night, and making you feel like a valued guest.
