Natural Beauty: Homemade Shampoo Recipes

Natural products are great for restoring the PH balance of your hair. We also like them because they are gentle. A lot of what works to restore your hair or improve hair growth can be found in nature. While it’s great to have luxury hair care products, and to take excellent care of your hair with the most luxurious, salon quality products and potions, you should also integrate some natural products, at least occasionally, to help bring it back to its natural state – good condition, simple shine and healthy hair growth. If you struggle with hair loss, from stress or hair conditions, like Alopecia, then you might want to give some natural remedies a try. Likewise, hormonal changes in women going through menopause (and there’s early menopause too), can result in thinning hair. If you have this happening, switch to more natural beauty products for at least three weeks, and see if you can’t notice a difference.

To restore your hair’s condition, try ditching the heat tools – like hair-frying, straightening irons and curling irons – and even think about using your hair dryer sparingly. P.S., Why do we straighten the H-E double hockey sticks out of our hair anyway? Natural waves, body and volume are good; you don’t need to use a straightener every day. Change it up a bit, and try some of these no heat hair styles – They’re good for your hair. There are also some great supplements that you can get in on, to help you with good hair health. Thinning hair, or even hair that falls out, happens to more people than you think. Improper nutrition, dehydration and stress, can all adversely impact your hair. We’ve been there. A stressful ex-boyfriend or girlfriend can sometimes be the root cause (Key Word: Ex), so if you have negative people in your life, you might need a lifestyle makeover. Evaluate your life to determine the source of the problem, and then make changes accordingly. Examine all areas of your life.

Pay close attention to your diet, especially. You need to ensure that you are eating like a balanced foodie, including lots of healthy foods, rich in Vitamins and Minerals, the kinds that are good for your hair. EFAs are important, so choose a good, healthy Oil, and stick with it. We recommend Safflower, Sesame Seed or Olive Oil – just 1 Tbsp a day; that’s all you need to notice a difference in the condition or your hair and skin. For Vegans and Vegetarians, you need your B12. Also important for great hair are Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Zinc. You can find lots of useful information about each of those Vitamins right here on our site. We would also like to introduce you to a few new supplements, that you might not know about. These two are life-savers for your hair, especially, but they are also good for your skin too.

For really great hair, skin and nails, you should supplement with Horsetail. This is for therapeutic use only, so you should start when you are experiencing problems, and stop when your symptoms are improved. This is the stuff that makes your hair incredibly strong, and it helps if you are trying to grow it out long – think in literal terms, like a horse’s tail – the kind of strands that violin bows are made of because it’s extra strong and difficult to break. Horsetail has a host of other health benefits too, but we like it for its restorative properties, which will be reflected in the condition and strength of your hair.

This is a wonder treat for your skin, that helps to clear up any irritation, redness or swelling that you have, within days, and it’s also great for your hair. Biotin is a helper for cell growth, and that’s exactly what your hair is made up of – cells. This supplement also supports metabolism, allowing you to get the most nutrients out of your food. You are what you eat; your hair will reflect this. For beautiful hair and skin, we think everyone should take Biotin on a daily basis.

For daily, hair care, routine maintenance that will help keep your hair looking youthful, lively and vibrant, all the time, you can use homemade shampoo. It’s not that difficult to make; it’s extremely cost effective, and you can have it customized (by you!) to match your exact hair care needs and preferences. We love really good smelling products, that are like perfume for your hair. When you make your hair care products yourself, you can have your hair scented exactly the way you want it – Kind of neat. Quick Tips: The secret ingredient is… Castile… Castile.

We know that isn’t a real word, but there’s talk around town that Champagne can be used as Shampoo for your hair. Apparently it has highlight activating properties. So, ok, we get it. It probably does work; however, you aren’t supposed to use alcohol in your hair because it dries it out. How do we know that? Drinking extravaganzas in a past, less healthy, lifestyle; You never mean to get it in your hair, it just happens. In fact, when searching through the aisles for great products, you should always check the ingredients for alcohol. If it’s in the top three, you should look for a less drying alternative. The final thought about champagne is this, you can use it to activate highlights a time or two, but only use it in a pinch. Otherwise, find a healthier alternative.

The Upside: Champagne is a nice, light alternative to harder alcohol, so in celebration of your healthy lifestyle, it’s ok to have a glass or two. You can make a mimosa with it too, for the occasional breakfast accompaniment. All you do is pour ½ and ½ into a champagne glass – 100% orange juice and Champagne. Better yet, blend your champagne with a whole orangey, for a nice, spritzy juice, and sip this, so you can enjoy it longer. If you’re doing this, you’re allowed to have 1 Cup of Champagne because good for you; you’re healthy.
