For the novice, we have some Do it Yourself options, to give you a sneak peek. You just need to buy a small, 10ml bottle and mix it in with some other household staples, and you can make yourself a little treat.


1. Do It Yourself Exfoliating Scrub

For great skin, you should exfoliate once per week. This helps to remove dead skin cells, leaving you with a fresh, new layer of skin, for a brand new healthy glow, week after week. Here’s what you will need:

– Sesame Oil (3 Tbsp)

 Honey (1 Tbsp)

 Oats – 1 package of regular oatmeal (or ½ cup rolled oats)

Directions: You know the variety packs of oatmeal? We totally recommend using that. Look for the package inside the box that says regular, and mix it according to the directions. If you don’t have a variety pack, you can measure out your rolled oats; it’s up to you what you do. Then, while it’s still hot from the microwave (use the microwave because it’s faster and makes the oatmeal thicker), get out your oil, add it in, and mix in some honey. You should also make a glass of green tea with honey, while you’re at it because you’re at the home spa, and it’s good for your skin – treats please! Then, blend it all together, let it cool, and apply it to your skin. Leave the exfoliant on for a total of about 15 – 20 min. To finish: Wash your face off over a sink, with a soft washcloth and lukewarm water. This mask is particularly good for those with normal to oily skin because it’s more gentle. For extra dry skin, you can switch the oatmeal out for natural sugar. This will make a grainier, more abrasive exfoliant.


2. Do It Yourself Moisturizing Mask

For firm, pore and line free skin, you should include a moisturizing face mask once per month. This helps to replenish your skin, and restore moisture lost from the harsh effects of the environment, such as the cold, winter-air or pollution.

Here’s what you will need:

 A Banana

 Sesame Oil (1 Tbsp)

 An Avocado

 A Blender

Directions: Slice the avocado with a paring knife, all the way around the skin, and cut through to the center (your knife will hit the pit). Twist the two halves to separate the sides from the pit, and pull them off so you are left with two halves. Using a spoon, scoop the flesh out of each half and toss both halves into a blender. Peel the banana, throw it in, and add in your Sesame Oil. Blend on a low speed until there are no lumps left in the mixture. Be careful not to over-blend or the mask will be too thin. The consistency should be similar to a really thick, rich, face cream. Slather the mixture onto your skin – be very generous, and let it sit for 20 – 30 min. Gently wash it off, by leaning over a sink, and use your hands to run the water over your face. The whole process should be exceptionally gentle and good to your skin. You should come out of the treatment feeling renewed and refreshed. To Finish: Follow up with a mild, Micellar water and your favorite moisturizer. Your skin will feel really nice, afterwards.

– 8oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips – use this instead of chocolate squares because they melt easier. You can use milk chocolate chips if you want a richer taste, as opposed to a sweeter taste. P.S. That’s 1 cup.

– ½ cup of healthy whipping cream – another DIY recipe.

Take the extra time, and learn something new. Or if you tend to waste your ingredients because your recipes don’t turn out, go look for the low-fat stuff in the grocery aisle. Just get a tub of low-fat whip cream – Easy.

You’re done.


Here’s for the rest of you, adventurous cooks:

 ½ cup of evaporated skim milk

 ½ cup of chilled, coconut water

 ¼ of confectioner’s sugar



Mix all of the ingredients into a bowl with an electric mixer until you have peaks forming – like snowbanks. Use the high setting on your electric mixer. We hear that freezing the bowl first works best; don’t ask why.

Oh, and add 1 tsp vanilla (optional)

Tip: If you can’t get your homemade whip cream to work out, put it in a metal bowl, and put the whole thing in the freezer. It will set when it’s frozen, and you can whip it back up with your electric mixture, afterwards.




Don’t put anything fancy in your truffles; you could, but who cares! Truffles are good enough on their own, and you don’t want to ruin the rich, chocolate flavor.

– 1/4 cup of cocoa powder

– 1/8 cup of peanut butter

– Use your Sesame Seed oil because you have a new use for it now – Chocolate – Yum!

– Almond extract (1 tsp) or just use rum – Truffle/Rum-balls!

Ok, seriously…



1. Melt the chocolate

2. Combine the peanut butter with the Sesame Seed Oil

3. Add peanut butter mixture to chocolate, and melt that too

4. Remove from heat

5. Add in the whipping cream

6. Add the rest of the ingredients (all except the cocoa – that’s for later)


Chill It!

Pour the chocolate mixture into a bowl, and refrigerate for about an hour


Make truffles!

Using a large spoon, form the chocolate into balls – you can roll them between your hands – thin, gloves are a good idea, but optional

Pour the cocoa into a dish, and roll each truffle in the cocoa to coat

Place each truffle on a baking sheet, lined with waxed-paper.

Put them back into the fridge to set

These should taste like peanut butter cups!

So, there you go.
