Thursday night Week 7 in review

Week 7 in the NFL got started off with the Green Bay Packers beating the Chicago Bears 26-10. Let's looks and see how my Start/Sit guys did. Just to clarify I wrote yesterday's article about 5 hours before the game started and Davante Adams was being listed as out. As you know by now he played and played well, but he wasn't included on my list yesterday. Like I always do I'll use the scoring system from my 20-team Yahoo league.

Quarterback:

Brian Hoyer played a shortened game as he broke his arm and had to be replaced. In limited time Hoyer threw for 98 yards and was worth 0.98 fantasy points. Even before being hurt he was a SIT for me; so I hope you went that route as well.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 326 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rodgers also ran the ball 2 times for 7 yards. He was sacked 2 times and did lose a fumble. He ended the night with 22.72 fantasy points. Rodgers was a START for me and I hope he was for you as well.

Running Back:

Jordan Howard had been putting up solid numbers since taking over as the Bears #1 running back. Last  night he only got 7 carries and rushed for 22 yards. Howard totaled 5.20 fantasy points and you have to wonder if his run is over. I had him as a START and was way off here.

The Packers backfield was a crap shoot with the injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks. The newly acquired Knile Davis carried the football just 2 times for 1 yard and had 18 return yards. Don Jackson had 2 carries for 6 yards in the game. Davis was worth 0.96 fantasy points while Jackson was good for 1.10 fantasy points. I had them as SIT last night.

Wide Receiver:

Alshon Jeffery was targeted 11 times, but only caught 3 passes for 33 yards. The Bears tried to get him the football without much success as he ended the night with 5.55 fantasy points. Jeffery was a SIT for me and I hope you had another option as well.

Cameron Meredith has had a connection with Hoyer; so once Hoyer's night ended due to injury Meredith's night was pretty much over as well. Just 2 targets for Meredith on the night and he caught 1 of them for 12 yards. I had Meredith as a START, but he had just 1.95 fantasy points last night. Ouch!

I liked Jordy Nelson as well last night and had him as a START. He was the only Packers receiver to not catch 10 plus passes in the game. Nelson scored 1.65 fantasy points as he caught just 1 passes for 9 yards in the game. Where did Nelson go?

Randall Cobb scored 27.10 fantasy points as he caught 11 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Cobb also added 5 rushing attempts for 21 yards. I had Cobb as a START and that was the right choice.

I mentioned that Ty Montgomery might be a good sleeper in a bigger league, but I still kept him in the SIT category; I should've listened to my own advice. Montgomery ended up with the most rushing attempts and yards on the team. Montgomery scored 22.35 fantasy points by catching 10 passes for 66 yards and running the football 9 times for 60 yards.

Just so you know Davante Adams scored 35.20 fantasy points as he caught 13 passes for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hopefully you got an update closer to game time and where able to get Adams into your line up late.

Tight End:

Zach Miller came into the game banged up and didn't put up great numbers. Miller caught 2 passes for 40 yards and scored 5.50 fantasy points. I had Miller as a SIT and even in our league where we start 2 tight ends I would've kept him on the bench. I hope you did as well.

I'm guessing there just wasn't enough targets to get Richard Rodgers the football last night. With 3 receivers getting 10 plus catches in the game Rodgers was only targeted 1 time, but he did catch it for 7 yards. Rodgers scored 1.45 fantasy points last night. I had him as a SIT and that's where I hope you had him.

Defense/Special Teams:

Chicago ended up with a decent night fantasy wise as they scored 13.62 fantasy points last night. Chicago had 2 sacks a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. I had them as a SIT, but I think they scored enough last night to be a useful play this week.

I had Green Bay's Defense/Special teams as a SIT as well and I missed there also. Green Bay scored 15.89 fantasy points as they had a sack, 2 interceptions and only allowed the Bears to score 10 points in the game. I think they put up enough points to be a useful start this week as well.

It looks like I hit on 7 START, but missed on 6 SIT yesterday. Not a very good week; so we'll look to improve going into Week 8. I hope the rest of your Week 7 goes well and thanks for taking the time to check in and see how I did.
