Week 1 fantasy recap

Week 1 fantasy recap

Sep 13, 2016, 6:19:15 PM Sport

Hopefully your fantasy football season started off on a high note. I had just a .500 week. I got beat in our snake style league by 16 points/ I had a laugher in our auction league as my team won by 50 points. In my money league we split games. You play two games a week and my team went 1-1. So not a good start, but not a bad start just an even start for me. How about you?

Let's look at some of the top performers by position and maybe one or two of the guys who struggled in Week 1. I'll use the scoring from my Yahoo snake style league and while it is a little customized it won't be too far off from your leagues.

Quarterbacks:

Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts led the way with 35.55 points. Luck threw for 385 yards, 4 touchdowns and a 2-poimt conversion. Luck also added 3 running attempts for 21 yards.

Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints scored 31.96 points. Brees threw for 423 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brees did lose a fumble.

A couple of quarterbacks that struggled in Week 1. Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins out up just 3.63 points. While Cousins threw for 329 yards, but no touchdowns and threw 2 interceptions. The lowest scoring quarterback in Week 1 was Tyrod Taylor of the Buffalo Bills. Taylor threw for just 111 yards with no touchdowns. Taylor is normally a big running threat, but added just 5 rushes for 11 yards.

Carlos Hyde of the San Francisco 49ers scored 28.55 points in the last game of Week 1, Hyde had 23 carries for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns. While Hyde didn't figure much in the passing game he did end up with 2 catches for 5 yards.

Theo Riddick of the Detroit Lions came in 5th for the week with 28.30 points. Reddick ran the football 7 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 7 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Here are a couple of running backs that you or someone in your league may have started and wish they hadn't. Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals comes in 5th with 26.10 points. Fitzgerald caught 8 passes for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns.

A couple of receivers who struggled in Week 1 where. Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys caught 1 pass for 8 yards and just put up  1.55 points. Kenny Stills of the Miami Dolphins dropped what would've been a long toucjdown pass that would've saved his fantasy week. Instead Stills ends the week with 1 catch for 16 yards and 2.35 points.

Tight Ends:

Jack Doyle of the Indianapolis Colts led all tight ends this week with 17.75 points. Doyle caught just 3 passes, but 2 of them went for touchdowns. Doyle totaled 35 yards for the week.

A couple of tight ends that struggled where. Jared Cook of the Green Bay Packers managed just 1 catch for 7 yards and 1.45 points. Colby Fleener of the New Orleans Saints caught just 1 pass for 6 yards and 1.35 fantasy points.

Defense/Special Teams:

The Minnesota Vikings led the scoring this week with 25.70 points. Minnesota had 2 sacks an interception, 2 fumble recovery and most importantly scored 2 touchdowns.

The San Francisco 49ers scored 21.94 points. The 49ers had 2 sacks and 2 interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles scored 16.79 points. Philadelphia had 3 sacks and and interception to go along with a safety.

The New York Jets scored 15.59 points. The Jets put up 7 sacks and an interception.

Hopefully you weren't playing the New Orleans Saints who scored a -1.12, but they weren't the worst Week 1 defense/special teams. The Indianapolis Colts scored a -2.23 points for the week. Ouch!

Kickers:

Dan Bailey of the Dallas Cowboys had the highest scoring week with 19 points. Stephen Gostkowski of the New England Patriots and Blair Walsh of the Minnesota Vikings each had 15 points. Jason Myers of the Jacksonville Jaquars had 14 points while Adam Vinatieri of the Indianapolis Colts had 13 points.

Hopefully you didn't start Connor Barth of the Chicago Bears scored just 2 points in Week 1 while Dan Carpenter of the Buffalo Bills scored just 1 point.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my review. Let me know how your team did in Week 1.
