Week 6 of the NFL season is in the books; so let's look back and see who the top scoring players where y osition. Like I always do I'll use the scoring system from my 20-team Yahoo league. The scoring system there is customized, but it's close to what a standard league would be.

Quarterback:

Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints was the #1 scoring quarterback in Week 6 and it ,may be a bit of a surprise because he did it against a tough Carolina Panthers defense. Brees threw for 465 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was sacked 1 time and threw 1 interceptions. Brees ended the week with 31.80 fantasy points.

Mathew Stafford of the Detroit Lions grabbed the 2nd spot with 31.55 fantasy points. Stafford threw for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stafford was sacked 1 time, but did run the football 5 times for 14 yards.

Another surprise might be Case Keenum of the Los Angeles Rams taking the 3rd spot for the week with 29.37 fantasy points. Keenum threw for 321 yards, 3 touchdown and an interception. Keenum was sacked 1 time , but ran the football 3 times for 7 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota took the 4th spot for the week with 28.83 fantasy points. Mariota threw for 284 yards with 3 touchdowns and an interception. Mariots was sacked 2 times, but ran the football 7 times for 64 yards.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady round out the Top 5 for Week 6. Brady out up 24.72 fantasy points by throwing for 376 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brady was sacked 3 times, but did run 2 times for 2 yards.

Running Back:

Jay Ajayi of the Miami Dolphins was the top scoring running back for the week with 40.70 fantasy points. Arian Foster was active for this game; so if you're an Ajayi owner did you take him out of your line up? Ajayi carried the football 25 times for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ajayi also added 1 catch for 3 yards.

David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals proved again why he was the top ranked fantasy running back coming into the season. Johnson ran for 111 yards on 22 carries and scored 3 touchdowns. Johnson also caught 3 passes for 27 yards. All this led to Johnson scoring 39.55 fantasy points for the week.

It looks like Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan finally remembered that LeShon McCoy was one of the best running backs in the NFL when he was traded to the Bills. McCoy carried the ball 19 times for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 2 yards and ended the week with 38.45 fantasy points.

Lamar Miller of the Houston Texans grabbed the 4th spot for the week with 38.05 fantasy points. Miller ran for 149 yards on 24 carries and 1 touchdown. Miller also caught 3 passes for 29 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Rounding out the Top 5 for the week is Terrance West of the Baltimore Ravens. West carried the football 23 times for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. West also caught 4 passes for 36 yards and totaled 33.05 fantasy points for the week.

Wide Receiver:

Odell Beckham Jr. had a big week for the New York Giants putting up 38.45 fantasy points in Week 6. Beckham Jr. caught 8 passes for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. Beckham Jr. did lose a few fantasy points this week as he lost a fumble.

Kenny Britt of the Los Angeles Rams scored 31.10 fantasy points to take the 2nd spot for the week. Britt caught 7 passes for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns on the week.

Golden Tate of the Detroit Lions had been having a bit of a down fantasy season, but broke out for 29.30 fantasy points for the week. Tate had 8 receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown. Tate also ran the football 1 time for 3 yards as well.

Brandin Cooks of the New Orleans Saints cane in 4th for the week with 29.25 fantasy points. Cooks caught 7 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown. Cooks also ran the football 1 time for 2 yards.

Terrelle Pryor Sr. of the Cleveland Browns rounds out the Top 5 for the week. Pryor Sr. probably wasn't drafted in your league, but I'm sure by now he was scooped up off the waiver wire. Pryor Sr. ended up with 26.82 fantasy points. He caught 9 passes for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Pryor Sr. added 1 passing  passes for yard and carried the football 1 time for 3 yards.

Tight End:

Rob Gronkowski found his way back to the #1 spot by putting up 27.70 fantasy points for the week. Gronkowski had 7 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown.

I was talking about Colby Fleener of the New Orleans Saints on my Sunday podcast. I was wondering why Fleener hadn't put up better numbers in this Saints offense. Well this week he caught 6 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown and he also had 1 rushing attempt for 2 yards and a touchdown there as well. Fleener ended up with 24.35 fantasy points on the week.

C.J. Fiedorowicz of the Houston Texans took the 3rd spot this week by putting up 19 fantasy points. Fiedorowicz caught 6 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. I wonder how many line ups Fiedorowicz was in this week.

Hunter Henry put up 18.80 fantasy points on Thursday night for the San Diego Chargers and that held on for the 4th spot for the week. Henry caught 6 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Another guy who I'm wondering how many line ups he was in for the week was Levine Toilolo of the Atlanta Falcons. Toilolo caught 3 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown for a total of 15.90 fantasy points.

Defense/Special Teams:

The Philadelphia Eagles took the top spot for the week with 19.68 fantasy points. The Eagles an interception. a defensive touchdown to go with 142 return yards and a touchdown there as well.

The San Diego Chargers took the 2nd spot for the week with 15.10 fantasy points. The Chargers had 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a safety on the week.

The Kansas City Chiefs came in 3rd for the week with 14.70 fantasy points. The Chiefs had 2 sacks an interception and a fumble recovery.

The Arizona Cardinals scored 14.41 fantasy points for the week to grab the 4th spot. The Cardinals allowed just 3 points while getting 2 interceptions and a sack.

The Seattle Seahawks took the 5th and final spot for the week with 14.20 fantasy points. The Seahawks had 4 sacks . 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery and 130 return yards for the week.

Kickers:

Will Lutz of the New Orleans Saints had 14 fantasy points to take the top spot.

Dan Bailey of the Dallas Cowboys and Josh Lambo of the San Diego Chargers tied with 13 fantasy points.

Adam Vinatieri of the Indianapolis Colts, Dustin Hopkins of the Washington Redskins and Phil Dawson of the San Francisco 49ers each had 12 fantasy points on the week.

Looks like there where some names on the list this week that we hadn't seen this season. Hopefully those guys where in your line up and got you a win. Thanks for taking the time to read this and good luck in Week 7.
