The Best College Basketball Team in Each State (Part 4)

Let's finish up this series with part four!

Rhode Island - Providence Friars

Despite losing stud point guard Kris Dunn to the NBA, Providence is off to a largely successful 2017 campaign. The Friars are 11-7 with wins over in-state rival University of Rhode Island and conference rival Georgetown.

South Carolina - Clemson Tigers

Already 11-4, the Tigers are off to a roaring beginning to their season. In fact, Clemson just lost their first two games since November, a thriller against ACC opposition North Carolina and an end to end game versus Notre Dame.

South Dakota - South Dakota Coyotes

Their are only two Division One athletic schools in South Dakota, and the Coyotes are the only team with a winning record, so it seems only right for them to be chosen here!

Tennessee - Tennessee Volunteers

Although the Volunteers are only 8-7, they do have some quality wins on their resumé. Tennessee has taken down Georgetown and Texas A&M, and they nearly defeated Oregon and North Carolina earlier on this season.

Texas - Baylor Bears

As of right now, the Baylor Bears are the nation's top ranked team, according to the AP Poll. Baylor has had a fantastic 15-1 start to the 2016-17 season, and they have wins over Oregon, Michigan State, and Louisville.

Utah - Utah Utes

Utah has been a consistent contender in the PAC-12 for the past few years and this year is no exception. The Utes have only lost four games so far, and are well on their way to fighting for a conference championship.

Vermont - Vermont Catamounts

Although they are the only D-1 school in Vermont, the Catamounts are actually having a decent year. Vermont has victories over Harvard and Yale and has a solid chance to compete for the American East Conference championship.

Virginia - Virginia Cavaliers

Historically, the Cavaliers have been one of the most consistent defensive teams in the ACC. They hadn't let a team score more than 61 points, until their recent loss to Pittsburgh. Virginia is going to be a tough out in March Madness.

Washington - Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have a really, really solid chance to go undefeated. So far, Gonzaga is 15-0 with wins over Arizona and Iowa State, and now that they're into conference play, the wins should be coming even faster.

West Virginia - West Virginia Mountaineers

Press Virginia. That's the nickname for Bob Huggins' team. They press, and press, and press. Coming off of massive a win against top ranked Baylor, the Mountaineers are certainly one of the best, and most entertaining, teams in college basketball.

Wisconsin - Wisconsin Badgers

At 13-3, Wisconsin is sitting pretty atop the Big 10 conference. The Badgers, led by senior Nigel Hayes, are going to be one of the favorites to win their conference and make a deep run in March.

Wyoming - Wyoming Cowboys

The Cowboys are the only D-1 school in their state, leaving them as the only option for this spot. Wyoming is 11-5 to start off the season, with a chance to sneak into the NCAA Tournament by winning their conference.
