4 Tips for Clearer Skin

4 Tips for Clearer Skin

I don’t know about you, but I’ve struggled with my skin from when I was in middle school. I used Proactive when I was in the 8th grade because my acne got so bad that I didn’t want to be seen in public. It did wonders for my skin but then I wanted to find other ways to keep it clear. As I got older, I started to notice that certain things would make me break out. I just made little changes to my daily routine and I have never been happier with my skin. Here are some tips for keeping your skin clean, clear, and covergirl ready.

1. Drink lots of water

I did not realize how important drinking enough water was for my skin. I used to drink a lot of juice and occasional sodas and that is when my acne was really bad. When I stopped drinking sugary drinks and started drinking more water, I instantly noticed a difference in my complexion. Water flushes out all of that ‘gunk’ from your body and cleanses you from the inside out. The result, clearer and healthier skin.

2. Eating habits

Now I’m not saying that you need to completely change your diet, but a healthy diet is really important for clear skin. All that grease and oil from that fast food you were craving the other day can really impact your skin. I try to eat things that I know the names of. If I can’t pronounce it or have never heard of it, I will more than likely stay away from it. Healthy food = healthy skin. Although, don’t feel guilty about eating a box of chicken nuggets and fries by yourself once in awhile.

3. Avoid touching your face

I am always wearing something on my wrist that jingles or something and that is when I realized how much I would touch my face for no reason at all. Your hands come in contact with EVERY surface you touch and let’s be real, no one washes their hands after everything they touch. Avoid touching your face so you don’t get all that bacteria and who know’s what into your pores. Just imagine putting your face onto every surface you come in contact with. Not very sanitary.

Moisturizing your face is super important in any beauty routine. Without moisturizer, your face will secrete more oils to keep your face from drying out. The more oils that are on your face, the more likely they are to get stuck in your pores. Having a moisturizer in your daily routine will avoid your face from drying out and you will see a difference in how much clearer your face will be. I personally moisturize after I shower before I go to bed. Living in such a warm place like Hawaii, moisturizing is super helpful in giving that clear glowing complexion.

Drink more water, healthy eating habits, not touching your face, and moisturizing are just 4 simple changes that you can make right away. You will start to notice that certain foods will cause breakouts. Doesn’t mean you need to completely cut them out of your diet, just enjoy them in moderation. Drinking more water will also give you more energy so you can take on the world, while rocking your clearer healthier complexion.
